I hope I never have need to do this, but how are you guys popping off that front bumper cover and not scratching the paint/gouging the plastic?
It just pivots out about a middle horizontal line, just gently push on the top and pull out from the bottom. I have some very small marks around the edge of mine, but they are difficult to see. I've had it open and closed way too many times now.

I like the idea of the do-it-yourself tube. Would be easy to glue a bottom end cap, put in a negative contact spring with a wire, and run it up the top end cap. Put in positive contact with wire, and run both out of the top end cap. If you are not a DIY person, I found a tube for sale that does the same thing, albeit for $40. I am going to ponder this solution to see if I really need to put one of these in the bumper. I do not want to implement a solution for a problem that does not exist.

Resurrecting an old thread. I’m thinking of a rechargeable 12V Li-ion battery, possibly this https://a.co/d/1UMSrew.

Where would you keep it? Not a rhetorical question.

The quandary is we need something like this to open the frunk in the event of a dead enough 12v. But we need to store this somewhere. If we keep it in the frunk, we can’t access it when needed. If we keep it in the cabin we can’t access it either and if we could, we wouldn’t need it as the manual frunk release would work just fine.

I tried a small battery holder with leads in a waterproof bag and super industrial Velcro to keep it attached inside the bumper access. Never made it past my driveway no matter what I did.

Haven’t gotten that far yet.. I thought there’d probably be a way to secure it in the bumper access.
