So, is the consensus the OEM tires still the best all season EV tire for this car?

Just curious. It is time for new rubber for my Premium AWD. Are teh OEM tires still the best for wear, range, road noise, and overall driving experience or has something better been developed?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably fair to say, the manufacturer spec'd tires are probably the best "all around" choice for a wide range of driving conditions, but if you prioritize a particular subset, there may be better choices. So far, I've been pleased with the OEM Michelins on our P4X.

There are a few threads on here about what are the best all-season tires, but I don't think there's any consensus. It seems other choices are the OEMs, Michelin CrossClimates, Hankook iON EVO SUV, Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 Elect, Goodyear ElectricDrive, and others.

I’ve had the Hankook’s for several months and I’m quite pleased with them. Slightly quieter imo and no discernible range loss.

How about the price? Are they the EV specific ones?

I went with the Michelin Pilot 4 A/S after replacing the Hankook Ions and really didn't see any discernable difference in range. Much better tire for wet conditions. Haven't tried the Cross Climates yet but i've heard good reports on them as well

My research on the forums here plus my own experience with the OE tires led me to replace with the exact same ones. I was ultimately not willing to be disappointed in any category (range, noise, ride) compared to the OE tires even if they were better in another category.

I live in Hawaii so everything is a bit dear. They are the EV specific tires. The local tire shop is also the primary distributor for them on this island. Every other seller, including the Ford dealer, gets them from this tire chain. They’re a bit uncommon tire so I had to have them ordered ahead of time. Plus the usual shipping delays and timing for the quarterly shipments.

Compared to the two Michelin dealers, they were roughly the same price. One of those dealers was Costco though and the OEM tires have to be special ordered there as well and that seemed to be a major issue with the local Costco.

My '23 is going to need a set soon so I am looking at RFT (run flats are on all my other vehicles) however the OEM size is not good.

Will go up +1 size.

In reality, people's opinions of tires are like other products that they only buy one of (or one set), and have no basis for comparison. "The XXX tires are the best I've ever had" or "I've noticed no difference in efficiency" is totally subjective. Few people run multiple sets of tires and have perspectives from that, @markboris is one exception I can think of.

Using sites like Tire Rack and other tire sites, one can compare tire ratings, although a lot of that is also subjective customer opinions. Consumer Reports, often free online via your library, actually does tests of tires in controlled environments.

OEM tires are generally lousy. They are designed to meet the car company's main needs, which in this case would be efficiency, coupled with price. Rarely are they comparable to what you can buy aftermarket.

The real question is what your needs are. Are you looking to maximize efficiency, which means the least rolling resistance which generally means not as good at braking, wet or snow roads? Or something else.

In the past, I've always purchased Michelin Defenders, a good all around tire and a very long warranty.

^^^^ Rick said it above. What do you want in a tire? What are your personal needs?

I used to reply to each new tire thread that was started giving my opinion but I stopped doing that more than a year ago. I'm replying to this one just to say in checking the search function on this forum with Tire or Tires in the title, I came up with over FIFTY threads on tire tests and reviews from members, and dealers. Lots of great information already here.

I like the new EV Pirellis for my Select, they are advertised to be quieter. So far so good after 4000 miles. And they cost much less than the OEMs at Discount Tire. I used to get all my tires from Tire Rack, but Discount Tire bought Tire Rack, so they are essentially the same.

I replaced the OEMs with Goodyear Electric Drive 2s and love them. They are quite and the handling is noticeablity better. I can't comment on the range because I got them at then end of the Fall season when the range typically drops off due to colder weather.

Thanks for the showcases! Down here in sunny Florida where "it's not the heat, it's the stupidity," and where "Hurricane Season" is 6+ months, I'll be checking those for a good summer tire with the best adhesion on wet roads.

Which Pirellis? I think there's a couple new ones.
