So I've always liked the execution of the exterior lights on the MME, from the styling, to the function and the Mustang puddle lights. They are unique & cool, well done Ford! Well, first time to drive the MME at night tonight (it's wifey's car..) and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me...the headlights fade from low beam to high beam, and back! Very cool, I've never seen that before! Have they always done that, or is it a '24 thing? Anyway, just sharing my overall happiness with the lights. ? (The actual headlight performance is really good, too...)

The automatic high beam has always been there. They added the fading effect in 23. Older ones can enable the fade using ForScan
Most cars have auto high beam these days. It's the fade effect that is really cool & unique.

The soft fade is nice.
But wait until you get to experience what Ford calls Adaptive Glare-Free headlights. (it's basically a headlight control system that meets European spec.

It can be enabled (Forscan) on the LED projectors on the 2021-2023 F150. Once you see it at night on dark rodes you can't unsee it.)

I like the idea of the soft fade but I'm not particularly eager to dabble in FORSCAN to get them. The adaptive glare free lights though are another story altogether. Are the destructions somewhere in this mess of a forum archive?

There's a Glare-Free thread on the Gen14 F150 forum.
The Mach-E doesn't have the matrix technology in the headlights.

Looks interesting....can I assume you've enabled this on your F150? I had a '18 F150, and always liked the spotlights in the mirrors, super handy when you are in BFE after dark. Also, when folded in, made nice extra light when backing up.

You mean the fading effect?
How did you enable the glare free?
Uhoh.

I didn't mean to derail a Mach-E thread into an F150 thing.

Look for the thread titled "Adaptive Head Lights - Coming to the US???"

54 pages. Note: it's not possible on the 2024. Rumors are Ford might have nixed the hardware in the refresh.

Sadly (in this case anyway), we have the last model year of gen 13 and the last gen 2 Raptor all rolled into 1 truck.

Oh and an early build gen 1 mme. Honestly, the anti-glare headlights would rock on the very rural roads we live on. So would fade for that matter, but not as much. :p I’ll consider the latter anyway.

Thanks for the info.

Faded headlight beam has always been here on my ‘21 model.

As far puddle lights are concerned, EV-Vida does these (attached) and with a slight tweak in FORSCAN is a nice effect.

I borrowed a GT once and it had matrix headlights which were just incredible because headlights were always on full main beam so you had great wider visibility without blinding oncoming drivers.

Gotta love these cars?

You guys over there always get better headlights than we do. We didn't get the fade in high beams until after the '21 MY (unless you mod with FORSCan) and I would love to have those matrix headlights over here. ?

How do you get a FORSCAN Update? How do you find out how to get this update? IS there some dealersthat offer it? Or some shops?

ForScan doesn't "update", it's a hacking tool for changing module parameters in Ford cars and trucks to enable or disable features in the modules. You need a PC with a compatible OBD connector.

Lots of info available on the interwebs. It's not for the faint of heart, you can easily brick your car or truck.

Search this forum for the power meter ForScan mod. I read that it no longer works after an OTA update, but it will give you an idea about what ForScan is:

Power meter forscan

I did use ForScan to enable glare free lights on my Lightning and it is amazing. I wish the MME had the same ability.

EDIT:
To answer the question about dealers using Forscan... Nope, they don't touch it. Purely DIY only. Maybe an independent garage or modder would use it.
