I have 2021 MachE select with 255/60R18 tires
- stock tires lasted 22k miles with 4/32 tire tread left
- Hankook ion ev tires lasted 26k miles with 4/32 tire tread left
Initial impressions after switching from hankook ion ev to Michelin cross climate 2:
- CC2 feel they have softer ride quality
- CC2 has slightly higher road noise
- CC2 has much less jerky/ tire spin when starting from stop
- too early to share any range/ efficiency impact
- overall CC2 seems much more grippier and stable than Hankook even though it is not an ev rated tire

I'm interested in what you find out in range impact. I put on the Michelin Pilot A/S and really didn't see much range impact from the Hankooks

Your initial impressions between the two are pretty much the same as several others have noted. I'm sure you will like driving on the CC2's better overall especially on wet roads. In the winter if you ever get up to the Sierra's, you will love the way they drive in the snow. I can tell you, the efficiency of the CC2's will not be as high as the Hankook's though. Because of their tread design (very grippy) they have a lower efficiency rating than most other grand touring all season tires. It's not a lot but not as high as the Hankook's. It is possible you may not notice right away since the weather is getting warmer (except for this coming week/weekend) and can skew your findings but all and all, the CC2's are a great all around tire.

I got 45K on the OEM tires (Michelin Primacy A/S) and got a set of CC2s at Discount Tire. I upped the size a bit to 235/55. They fill out the wheel well just a bit better. Good looking tires. I now have 10K miles on the CC2s and they look practically new. My first impression was that the ride was much less ā€œjitteryā€. The car seems calmer and well planted. In turns, you can almost feel the tires settle into a radial performance. It makes you think the OEMs were bias-ply. Good handling for me and the noise level is noticeably less than the OEMs. I like them quite a bit and would recommend them.

The CC2 is a great tire it should be between 2-4% less efficient than the Hankook in a 225/60/18. According to tests, it should have less traction when wet. However, I have heard owners say they have not observed this.

The Hankook is rated efficiency A wet grip A via Euro testing

I will add that this is a great choice, a small loss in efficiency for much better grip. That would be my preference

Hankook is not good in wet conditions. I have seen the rear tires skid in rain.

Agreed CC2 is better in the wet than the Hankook Ion. However, not the leader in wet traction among all weather, that's the Quatrac Pro+ with almost 20% more wet grip than the CC2.

My Hankooks were getting worn so baby got a new pair of shoes. Went with the Cross Climate 2. Since I have to go to the office 4 days a week and winter is coming up they seem like a good choice.

They are noisier than the Hankook’s but being better in wet and being winter three peak rated was a trade off I am OK with.

I can’t order a 26 MME management lease until late Oct/early Nov and it probably wouldn’t arrive until June/July next year. So I decided that I would update the tires now.

Been on CC2s for c70,000 miles and have no complaints.

The three main attributes are a trade-off.

You’ll never get all three - good grip, quiet and good wear resistance.

I think the balance is about right with the CC2s.

Grip’s very good, wear rate isn’t excessive and I haven’t noticed a difference in range that can definitely be put down to tyres alone between the crappy Continental summer tyres fitted from new.
