I searched Ford’s website and found an identical car shipping sooner but to a different dealer. So my dealer called that dealer and arranged to take position of that vehicle, in exchange for my dealer giving the other dealer a vehicle already on his lot. I think it’s pretty common for them to do.
Ok, that makes sense. I'm going to talk to my dealer about that possibility. I'd like to buy through my local dealership since I'll be using them for service and such. Hopefully my current car holds up until my order comes in, but I want to plan for the possibility that it doesn't. This was helpful, thanks.
I'm guessing based on what I've seen for cars that have been delivered, but there's a chance that it means that it's at the final train depot before being put on a truck and delivered to your dealer.
