I would get the 12V battery checked. Do t just check the voltage. Get a load test or internal resistance check done on it. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. The Mach-E has a TINY 12V battery, and if you are o my plugging the car in once a month, it might not be in the best health. Also, it is not uncommon for car batteries to fail after 2-3 years. The 12V battery in my dad’s Bolt EV failed after about 13 months.

I make it a point to charge up all of our vehicle 12V batteries at least once every 6 months with my 10 amp battery charger/conditioner.
I also vote to change the 12v. For a couple hundred dollars it’s worth a try. Our 2017 Volt did a shutdown while on the PA Turnpike. Just stopped with some sort of propulsion message. Towed it home, got it going, took it to Service. They couldn’t find any issues. We picked it up, and 15 minutes later it just stopped. Again. Just like described here. They offered me a $1000 to trade it on a Bolt. I gambled $200 on a new 12v (original was 6+ years old by then), and that was 1year, 15k miles ago, and the problem has not returned.

I probably don't know what I am talking about but if it were me, I would take a long 2+ hour road trip in the car (to give the 12v battery plenty of time to charge) and then recharge it on a Level 3 charger back to 80 or 90%

All cars with a push button start, regardless of powertrain (ICE, hybrid, electric-only), will shut the car off if the start/stop is pressed for a certain amount of time. It is the equivalent of turning the ignition key off in a traditional car. I test it at least once in every car I own to make sure it works.
Yea - that makes total sense. It was suggested earlier that the op may have “accidentally” turned the car off while driving at 45 mph. While possible, seems unlikely as it apparently takes more than a casual bump of the button.

A DC fast charge won’t be long enough to charge the 12V battery back up to 100%. if you want a charging session to also fully charge the 12V battery, it really needs to be on a Level 1 or 2 AC charging sessions that is 9-hours or longer. At least that’s been my experience.

And now I'm more than a little "disappointed" with my "new" Ford dealership. No response to my calls/text, website messages asking for help. Nada. Actually considering going back to the closer Ford grifters I dealt with for this issue.... And a significant portion of my IRA has been Ford stocks since 2008 (initially @ $1.39 share!). Getting ready to head out to another MD appointment, and refuse to Uber with a "new" car in the garage with less than 6,000 mi....
Ford has all my contact info (and I'm current on payments).

Interesting. I get regular texts from Ford asking how my MachE is doing. Sometimes this is annoying just because I have nothing to say too them?.

I second and third having the 12v battery checked. My 23 GT was only a few months old before the car bricked itself in a grocery store parking lot in the middle of winter at night. It was a bad 12v battery. I suspected something was up when a few times the garage would smell like sulfur after charging the battery the night before. But didn't really think it could be the 12v battery.

Fun fact, you can't lock or even shut the doors when that happens. So your car just sits there with open doors. Which means you can't leave it in a public place. What a stupid design.

Does updates happen while driving? Mabe an Update was in progress before he left the house and the system gliched/rebooted. Just a guess.

Thanks for the support. I'm going to see if Ford's "Mobile Service" can test and/or swap out the 12v battery without me risking another situation. Sad that a corporation's customers have to provide the dealers' "services" to their fellows.... Grateful for my fellows!

Have you reached out to the Ford EV Team? They should be able to help with your dealer response issues. Also, have you checked your 12V SOC on the Ford website or otherwise? Good luck! I hope it turns out to be the 12V battery!

You got more balls than me. If I experienced this I’ll be damned if I’m gonna keep driving 11 miles to a dr appt and THEN going shopping afterwards lol. I’d coast that car to the closest ford dealer service lot and tell them to not call me until they’ve found out what’s wrong with it lol.

I'll go to the main Ford website and see if I can see how to check my 12 volt's SOC. Thank you.
