First use of GM Energy fast charger at Flying J, Aurora, OR, outside Portland. Couldn’t simply plug&charge, so used a credit card. 118kw max. Clean facility with four chargers. No one else using any at the time. Even had windshield squeegees. Restrooms and food options, including Subway

I read that GM Energy chargers use EvGo on the backend, wonder if those can be activated using Fordpass/blue oval charge network.

Yes, all Flying J / Pilot chargers can be activated via FordPass just fine as they are part of the EVgo network.

I gave it time to start on its own and, in fact, changed to a different charger, thinking it would self-activate, but it wasn’t automatic plug&charge, so I resorted to the credit card purchase. Ford Pass said “starting charge” and then timed out.

Plug and charge only works with EA and Tesla, other BOCN providers require manual activation.

FordPass was reporting status - i.e. I see a charger, but it then didnt' charge, because, as stated, only EA and Tesla are Plug & Charge. You need to OPEN FordPass, SELECT a charger, and ACTIVATE it if it's not EA or Tesla.

I had the same thing happen. Then I realized the credit card connected to my EvGo account had been hacked so they had an old card. It was easy enough to just use my credit card. I am just happy that my small home town in Southeast Texas has a fast charger. Makes traveling down there much easier...

On the EVgo app there is an auto charge+ feature,which functions the same as plug and charge. We have charged at Flying J many times while traveling and it has never failed to start quickly. These have become our first preference stops while on the road.

Oregon has some strange law that requires an attendant to operate the charger. You should never go there if possible.
