Anyone know if the $250 EV penalty made it into the final version of the BB bill?

Media reported the Senate determined the government didn't have a mechanism to collect the funds and it would cost more than $250 per EV to drop it.

I suspect what really happened was they needed a graceful way to make this go away.

Well, I just got an email from DOGE informing me that my MME is scheduled for repo this coming Monday. Apparently they slipped a provision in the final bill that all EVs will be seized and disposed of in the most environmentally unfriendly way possible: a massive bonfire. Even worse than what all those “progressives” did to the Teslas. Speaking of Tesla, apparently Elon is being deported now??? (He’s our hero again now, btw.) I mean, the bill doesn’t call him out by name but says that anybody from South Africa with at least 15 kids and a rocket company is subject to immediate deportation, so I’m just reading between the lines. As for the public chargers, they’ll henceforth be repurposed as public urinals. Seems excessive. Sad face.

I usually burn a stack tires once a month as I do not want to decrease my carbon footprint. I am working on ice age prevention.

Just another reminder not to freak out until a bill becomes law.

That's the new minimum extra EV fee in Hawaii. The original federal proposal would have been in addition to state EV fees, not in lieu of. It was a punitive proposal, nothing more.

I read/heard somewhere that Trump promised some the House members that he would issue an executive order ending the EV and clean energy tax credits on 9/30/2025. Some House members were upset the Senate pushed the EV tax credit out to 2026 and the clean energy tax credits out to 2027.
