Putting prediction aside... what do I want? An electric Focus RS. I'm not going to get that. If they do release an "Electric Mavrick" (likely, because trucks), I will be sad.
Yeah, I'd want an EV Mustang... I was waiting for that EV charger to come out, but yeah... Dodge just can't build tech, and I want the looks and the tech and they only got half of that right... at a crazy price point that eliminated both the muscle car fans and the EV fans. I think they sold about 4000 of them which must just have been to mostly to businesses and youtubers.

I hope it's an announcement about not only the platform, but the slew of vehicles that will come with it and very soon, plus specifics on far superior software to control it all.

If the announcement has any hint of hybrid, plug-in shit, range extender crap, "electrified but not electric" bullshit, this Mach-E will definitively be my last Ford.

That looks like something you'd see on the side of a pasture road in south america. :)
South Americans are probably driving far superior Chinese EVs, while we fuck around with tariffs du jour and dream of recovering grandpa's wrench-turning trade job at an Oldsmobile plant in Ohio.

If I could dream, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - what I’d like to see is a “Lincoln Mark E”. Mustang Mach-E GT level performance coupled with high-end Chinese levels of technology and luxury features (but domestically developed technology please).

You and I share the same dream. Lincoln needs to get their act together on EVs already.

Think something tiny that you could toss 1-2 bikes (maybe with front wheels removed) into the bed.
My tri-bike was almost $6000 14 years ago, and that was just for the frame and the very basics. Want clipless pedals? More. Less uncomfortable aerobars? More. What you want a seat (saddle) too? Yeah, more.

Anyone trying to toss it into a truck bed or anywhere else for any reason is going to find themselves getting tossed. :p

It needs an all electric mid sized pickup. Make it so Bill Ford. ;)

I’m thinking of something like a “city truck”. Not a “real” truck that could do “truck things” (tow big trailers, loads of mulch, go off-road, etc.)
99% or the the trucks on the road never do those things, but people still want to drop near 100 grand on them.

That's a cancelled project. This will undoubtably be a platform unveil in my opinion. Farley's been talking about the "skunkworks" project for a couple years now, and in all the conversations he's had with media outlets point to a slate of affordable EVs. He's been talking about China's EV dominance and subsequent success in third world markets for a while, I think he wants to get ahead of in before they start importing them, or manufacturing them here.

I think the key part of the quote is "for Ford". It will be a Model T moment "for Ford"

It has to be a huge improvement in production efficiency and cost, with the potential to be the lowest cost manufacturer in the industry. So the reveal will be a super efficient BEV platform that is cost competitive with China. Maybe cheaper than China.

It won't be a vehicle. It will be a platform Ford believes is the most efficient they have ever produced before.

That said, they may announce the first vehicle to be built on the platform. But that vehicle isn't what is important. The platform will be the what matters.

IMO.
^this gets my vote, although I do expect the announcement to include specific models that are going to be the first to be built on the new platform.

crystal ball says... truck. because Americans brainlessly buy trucks.
I'm well aware that not everyone in America has a truck in the driveway. But the Millions upon millions that do can't figure out why. 🤣🤣🤣

Yesterday, just in front of my barn. And there's a couple of trucks not in view. I guess me and my sons are all sans brains. 😁 (the new 2025 Maverick is my daughter's. She is the smartest in the family too)

Putting my serious hat on.

I agree. It’ll be a platform announcement and possibly a vehicle announcement but not an unveil. “Our first vehicle built on the all new Super Edsel Platform will be the 2027 Ford Thunderbird EV.”

Ok, it was my semi serious hat. Probably a more general “mid sized pickup, SUV, etc” if they do announce pending vehicles.

I know. But you’d be surprised how many truck owners obsess over those use cases even though they don’t ever use them.
