This is totally tariffs, not a scam. 35%, or maybe due to it being full of copper? I think that's a higher rate.

Called A2Z and no one picked up.
I would not rush to fault A2Z.

The hourly changing whims of your US administration are not the responsibility of any Canadian company.

This is on your government and the onus upon yourself for importing goods subject to US tariffs and duties - not of the exporter who met the conditions of the sale at the time of purchase.

This is the Trump tax. As to be paid by US consumers and companies.

UPS, a US company, may be further free to pass off costs and profiteering against yourself.

A lesson to all, for the responsibility of all in a democracy and of the potential repercussions upon the end result.

The US govt can't charge tariffs on goods that enter Canada they can only tariff on goods that come into the US, it doesn't matter for US customs if it entered other countries before coming to US customs.
Incorrect. There are no legislated tariffs in this case. No thousands of pages of breaking down a country's specific items nor compounding countries of routing/origin.

This is the confusing result of one-liner sharpie-presidential-decrees for which US customs have quite the leeway for interpreting the intended messaging, and all to satisfy whoever their manager is of the day. Having such compounding cases of freewheeling growing hourly, good luck finding any court to resolve.

It's pleasant to see A2Z catching up to their customer's confusion and having contacted you. Though, remember, a good and decent company such as A2Z is now an even greater victim to the aggression of Trumpism and the USA against Canadians, than of US consumers being taxed by your government.

Excuse me but I pay taxes to the US Government every year; so don't tell me that additional fines/fees/taxes/HST/GST/customs/duties is acceptable by hard working citizens.

The Boston tea party will look like a joke compared to the response that will eventually result from this type of madness…

Evidently, you folk are paying much more than you planned on. Own it - you have my sympathy, as I would appreciate you all to also have for the US attacks upon Canada and Canadians.

This thread is a fitting example of US protectionism and violation of the international legal framework that is harming a decent Canadian company such as A2Z.

You are preaching to the choir on this one. Not many of us voted for this. Kamala Harris would’ve been a great president. That’s about all I can say without probably being banned for getting into politics….

If you're willing to wait a while for the new economic "philosophy" to take effect, A2Z and its competitors should be on-shoring their manufacturing, breaking ground on new facilities here in the U.S.A. At some point those manufacturers will find un-deported employees to fill those jobs ("like nobody has seen before!"), and you can re-order. We all should be feeling "great again!"
Sorry to add snark to your situation; it's bad and will get worse (think: prices on Canadian-bought meds putting U.S.A. fixed-income patients on "either-or" regimens).
Question: With the crippling of the EPA and imminent lifting of all pollution/environmental protections, why would Ford or any other U.S. auto manufacturer invest another dime in EV support? Answer (IMO): Beats me, literally!
Still haven't heard back on my "Complaint" regarding the 12v battery and, I suspect, it quietly has been closed-out.

Please don't think we are all are bad. I didn't vote for that, nor did 98% of people I know. I am going to Canada in a few weeks to do shopping before de minimus ends, as there are some Canadian brands that import from China that would cost my a lot to shop from going forward. I love Canada, and I hope people don't treat me like a bad American.

Oh, they are quite our responsibility whether you see them as explicitly as your UPS bill, or through higher prices for imported items. Anybody who told you different was lying to your face.

The import duty is payable by the importer, not the retail purchaser. If you ordered the cable from an overseas seller then you are the importer and owe import duties payable to the U.S. Customs Service. If you ordered it from a U.S. shipper, the seller may collect the duty amount from you, but that charge should have been stated clearly in the sales offer.

This thread is a good example of why it's important to communicate to a company about a problem AND give them a reasonable amount of time to respond, BEFORE going to social media and screaming FIRE! FIRE!

Most responsive companies, like @A2ZEV, respond in 24 hours or less. In this case, simply not accepting the package delivery by not opening the door would have resulted in UPS leaving a slip that they'd try again tomorrow, and an answer would have been provided by A2Z in the interim.

Going forward, we (the collective we) should expect a cluster of delivery issues with products we want to buy. Many of the sellers on Ebay and Amazon are non-US, shipping direct to customers. Sites like Temu are 100%. The tariffs are going to raise costs, and the removal of De Minimis is going to overwhelm US Customs and dramatically slow deliveries. We'll turn UPS, Fedex, and USPS into tariff collectors, and overload them taking packages back when someone isn't home to pay or refuses delivery.

The other day I got ready to buy 10lb bags of fertilizer from a big box store. They'd been $9.99 for several years. They are now $12.99, a 30% price increase. I last bought them on 3/24 for $9.99.
