I would definitely get the performance upgrade and switch to summer tires. It made a huge difference for me and I tried it with all combinations: Continetals and Pirellis, with and without the performance upgrade.

Why go half way on something? Complete the package.

It doesn't. On my 21 Premium, the kick to open feature was occasionally helpful, but I deactivated it for most of its life because the hatch would sometimes open when I walked past the rear of the car, without ever even stepping under the bumper. There were also a few times when I found it open in the garage for no apparent reason. If that happened in a bad area, I could only guess the results.
thanks, I use mine a lot, works great to open, not so much to close, but that's OK. One of the things I would hate to give up if I trade my 21 GTpe (27,000 miles) for a 25 .. also, I have to admit, as much as I hate it, the 5 sec limit that takes the fun out of accelerating past 75mph has probably saved me many times.

That might be a good use for my FordPass points!

Does the 25 GT offer the hands free liftgate like the '21?
Kick to Open was removed via software in 2022 and the hardware was removed in 2023. KtO could be reactivated on the cars that had the hardware using FORscan. 🤔🐩

After 4 months of waiting on my special order, my GT arrived, and I somewhat sadly say goodbye to my 21 Premium which served me somewhat flawlessly. Other than the $100 battery self installed from Rock Auto, I never spent a dime on maintenance.

Will I miss some of the idiosyncrasies of my 21?. The ride is much better, especially since I bled some of the 49 psi that it was delivered with down to 42 psi on a 100 degree day. (Mexican air illegally brought over the border?)

Some facts and observations:

Even without the performance upgrade, I can feel the added torque., though the performance upgrade may be in my future.

I noted that the front doors are not popping open from the outside, but rather just release, forcing me to pull them open. Defect or change? The rears react like my 21.

Also, the GOM at 97% is initially showing nearly 300 miles of range. We shall see where that heads with the "normal" driving that killed the Michelins in 23,000 miles on my 21 at trade in time.

I negotiated $21,300 on my trade versus $21,000 from CarMax and $21,700 from Carvana, though indicated no damage, but my Ford dealer pointed out a severe door ding requiring possibly repainting the whole rear door. For simplicity, I took the dealer offer, which was still better than CarMax. My bet is that the trade in price has been somewhat depressed so that the deal can still make a reasonable profit while keeping the resale price under $25k to give the buyer a $4k rebate. That plan expires 9/30, so it will be interesting to see where future trade in value lands.

With the 3 year lease, there was a $6,000 rebate plus $500 in lieu of the charger program. Also two years of free maintenance (wow! tire rotations?) I kept my wet weather floor and cargo mats purchased after the fact for my 21 with FordPass points, and the no longer included cargo cover.

I am looking forward to the journey with the 25 GT, and hope it is as rewarding as my 21 was.

Gorgeous car. I love that color -- especially for a Rally.

The cars are shipped with very high tire pressure. Dealers are supposed to air them down to specs before delivering them to the customer.

Thanks for sharing. She’s a beaut! Love that color. I am thinking about doing the exact same upgrade and was wondering about the ride as well. I’ve had Magneride in my previous Mustang (turbo) and was wondering about the ride difference.

I test drove a GT and at 97% SOC the GOM indicated 315 mile range!? Please keep us posted on that one. Was it difficult to get used to the new shifter? I really like the dial in my ‘21.

Thanks again!

Can confirm that on the OEM all season conti's the performance upgrade doesn't really feel different. It just spins the tires but doesn't feel any faster to 60...haven't really taken it on a highway pull to see if it feels faster there. But...I would concur you'll need better tires to take advantage of it.

Yeah, grip is why I went to 275s when I switched from Summer UHPs to All-Season UHPs. The bigger tires are pretty much as sticky and more forgiving at the limit. 😁🐩

Surprisingly, my wife and I have almost immediately adapted to the new shifter, though I really liked the dial. I think Ford did a great job with the redesigned shifter's tactile feel. Though we rarely get rain in Southern California, I am more interested in using the wipers and washers, primarily the rear. They are asking a lot of one stick on the opposite side of what we are used to.

Yes they are. The first time I test drove it I got so confused…and actually the second time as well! The 0.0.0. Deal is very attractive. I also like the idea of the heat pump. Three days after I bought it in 2021 my wife convinced me that we should drive it 7 hours to Vermont. Apart from not fully understanding the differences between level 2 and 3 chargers (took 11 hours to actually get there), and telling my wife she couldn’t use the heat (to save batt), it was a success(kinda?😳. I’m sure the heat pump will improve range a bit. Thanks again.

Side note...I went to Fairleigh Dickinson Rutherford 1 year, then three years in Teaneck. You are in a beautiful part of New Jersey.

I guess for 2025 they change the name of the rally to a GT now?

Because encouraging car companies to use video game subscription tactics on a machine you own that contains everything needed to operate except for Ford's divine-grace permission that it should operate needs to die immediately.

Subscriptions to "enable" functions of a machine you bought and own can go deep up Ford's blue oval.

The Rally package is an option on the GT. So, technically it's a Mustang Mach-E GT Rally (with or without the PU). 😁🐩
