Is there a 12 volt supply lead in the mirror or anything in that area? I don't have my car yet so I can't look for something. It seems a long way to go for tapping in and also it looks like you can't bury the cord out of sight (unless you did that way on purpose). Can't see the USB cable;where is that? I adapted a few things in my Thunderbird and was able to hide any cords, etc. (after being shown how to do it by another member).A while back in some thread, I think it was @methorian who asked for pictures of my dash cam installation. The one I was given for Christmas had a really short USB-B cable and a long 12v plug cable. Here are the shots with the 12v installed.
I remember seeing that now - thanks. Is there a reason one shouldn't tap there? It looks like if you're very careful taking the plastic cover off it wouldn't be that hard to do (but I'm probably the last person who should attempt it ? ).
No reason. I was too timid. Might think about it now that someone has shown us how — out I might just wait to see if there’sa dash cam mode in the first OTA update.
