Before I purchased this car I was driving a 2006 Camry with 223,000 miles on it. The air conditioner stopped working and it needed some suspension work. This experience is making me wish I had that car.

For the trade in value of that Camry… you should have kept it as a backup.

Since they have my car, should I wait until they service before reporting?
software updates obviously were a waste of time....
you need HVBJB replacement... do you want them to do it? Or tow it to a more informed Dealership?

print and bring in a copy of TSB 22-2178, and encourage them to order the replacement HVBJB thru their COPIS process, they should get the part in 3-5 days.

The Ford account here opens a case as well so you don't have to waste your time calling for that. You should make sure you get a rental car and push the customer support people to expedite the part because the dealer didn't follow Ford's instructions when you showed up the first time.

Update: Yesterday I opened a case with a BEV rep. The dealership does not have a loaner and is unsure whether they will have one by the end of the week. They have told me they are also only willing to cover $40 per day for a rental. We are getting quotes over $140 per day. Up to this point we are lucky to have gotten by without renting but tomorrow is a different story.

The car as expectedl needs a new junction box which is on back order. They can’t really give me an estimated timeline until they know the part is on the way.
The dealer #2 I took my car too only covered $35 in LA area. Ford picked up the rest of the bill for a rental car, and also paid for gas.

He might be stuck with that dealer now as the car was towed there...

With the 2 HVBJB recently I am almost glad my order was rolled into a 23 and hope no new issue will pop up. Sorry for your experience Ryan, seems all 21/22 mache owners should have ford bev team's number on speed dial

Car was returned after 31 days. Ford got the new HVBJB to the dealership in 10 days, then the dealership took another 21. Every time I called the same explanation….we only have one lift for EVs and we haven’t been able to get started.
Regardless, it’s great to have my Mach-e back!!

That sucks. You had the hallmark of a failing HVBJB and instead of following the proper TSB for your DTC’s, they half assed and pretty much guaranteed you’d get stranded. Please report this to Ford. The TSBs are written at about a 6th grade level. It isn’t hard to follow.
I think the dealer is innocent.

See post #4 - OP says the dealer installed the 22P41 recall software just 10 days before the SSN failure. This tells me that at that visit, OP's car was not showing any HVBJB failure signs - without the recall installed, he would have seen SSN upon any HVBJB failure, and would have been unable to drive to the dealer 10 days prior. The dealer properly installed the recall software, and - as it very often does - the recall software itself triggered the HVJB issue, a few days later. What's unusual is that OP did not get a SVS warning, and was unable to start the car - in most cases (not all cases) the recall software leads to SVS and not a complete failure. OP was unlucky, but it's not clear to me that the dealer did anything wrong.

Ford and NHTSA are guilty in my book. The recall should cover replacement of the defective hardware, not just a software band-aid that leaves owners at risk of vehicle failure on the road.

I don’t think the dealer is totally innocent. 21 days after receiving the part? Did the put @rlpellow at the back of the line after getting the part? Lame. ??

Glad you finally got it back, but what an ordeal.

Mine is *supposed* to be finished tomorrow. Dropped it off Oct 21 at the only dealer in Reno while on a road trip 1000 miles from home. Part finally showed up on Tuesday, but their only EV tech was out sick that day, and Wed. That matters because (for other reasons) we had another trip to Reno last week, actually due to leave today.

But when the tech got back to work Thursday, the dispatcher didn't prioritize our car that's been sitting there for 4 weeks! If they had, we'd have been able to pick it up Friday (they're closed Saturdays) and made our schedule. But nope. It got pushed to Friday. Which means it won't be done till Monday (if there's no problems). We reluctantly decided to extend our stay here and screw up our Thanksgiving, just praying it's done tomorrow, and all working right. It's a 2-day drive home.

No dealer is totally innocent. But this one is innocent of the serious charge that they ignored signs of HVBJB failure.

Slow service? Agreed.

Hey there! I can look into your Mach-E’s concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?
