Again, glad it worked out for you. It hasn’t for me. You keep saying “read the posts” just like you keep saying “everything is negotiable” but that’s not helpful at all. YOUR situation worked out for YOU in YOUR geographical location. Great, and that’s awesome. Not everyone is in your exact same situation.
There really isn’t anything unique nor special about my situation.

I bought a car from 500+ miles away and had it delivered.

Anyone can do this. Just pick up the phone and start dialing. The hardest part was finding a dealer with the car I wanted at the price I wanted.

But the logistics of the actual purchase and shipping? Super easy. Dealership took care of it all.

I said “read the posts“ because it’s details I already posted. You asked if I ever shipped a car 500 miles and I already said I did.

A bunch of morons? Or a bunch of folks who knew exactly what they were doing. Eliminating a $7,500 incentive certainly is an inflation reducing act.
It was going to eliminate itself this year when the 200k limit was reached. Instead they reinstated it for everyone with no caps for a decade.

Although they did make it nearly impossible to get the full credit so……. Who knows what they’re thinking.

I guess you have to be standing there in front of them. I was looking at Lightnings earlier this week and they all start around $20k ADM but they drop down to $10k immediately.....then it's hard plowing from there.

I didn't actually look into buying a MME though. I see a bunch sitting around so if they insist on ADM then that is why they still have them for sale.

If you are serious about buying a MME then PM me and I'll see what I can do. I am going to be at these dealerships quite frequently for other business so it's not a big deal for me to throw an offer at them and see what sticks.

Forget Bell Ford though. Those guys are still on the magic ADM carpet ride and think it is going to continue. They got very little allocations and their lot is empty so they are trying to make as much profit as they can with each measly car they sell. The other dealers are over flowing though. They are getting desperate to make their end of year numbers.
Thank you for the offer, but I'm going to wait for mine to arrive locally. I've got a '23 Vapor Blue on order that Ford moved into "awaiting shipment" status today. I'm excited for it!

Daniel at Peoria Ford was very nice and seems great to work with when he called me today. The ADM dropped to +$8k with a conversation and not willing to move more on the one phone call. I passed. I didn't have the time today to negotiate more, so not the right deal at the right time for me. Plus it wasn't Vapor Blue. I am excited about the color. And yes, I know I'm paying more basically for the new color when it finally arrives.

Asking $20k ADM still seems excessive to me.

Okay you keep changing the goalposts and only answering the question you want to answer and then trying to act like you’re so much smarter, better, or whatever. It blows my mind that you still can’t comprehend that everyone is not in the exact same situation as you in every way. It’s really quite a simple concept. I don’t know why you’re so obsessed with it, but keep telling yourself how great you are if that’s what you need. Hope that fulfills you or gives you whatever you’re looking for. And while you’re at it, since apparently there are Mach E’s and F-150 Lightings all across the country at MSRP that literally no one else can find, perhaps you could do us all a favor and start a list of them for us. Oh, and how to get them shipped to us for free, because as I said over and over again, the point is avoiding paying over MSRP for the vehicle, and paying for cross-country shipping is potentially thousands of dollars. Thus, I’m still paying significantly over MSRP. Oh, and ones that are cool filling out Oregon-specific paperwork for tax purposes and not doing their standard paperwork…which, considering how many dealers still seem to be confused with simply doing X plan paperwork, i find unlikely. I’ll keep waiting, but you’ll still just answer the question you want to answer instead of the one that’s asked.

You never asked a question.

You just made incorrect statements about sales tax and having to fly somewhere, take time off work, get lodging etc.

All I did was correct those statements because I’ve been through the experience of buying a car over the phone from 500 miles away.

The logistics of buying? Easy.

The hard part (especially right now) is finding the car and deal you want.

Smarter, better? Not sure wtf you are talking about. Never claimed to be special, in fact stated quite the opposite. Again, what special situation do you think I’m claiming to possess?

All I did was pick up the phone and buy a car. Literally anyone with a phone and the time to make some calls can do the same. No need to be smart or “better.”

You seem to be reading into this in an odd way. I’m just trying to help others based on the experience I had. If you don’t want help, that’s fine I guess. Maybe someone else reading this will get an idea do themselves.

In fact, I already had someone PM me yesterday about it. So I know they did.

I have a written MSRP price from my local dealer for an order placed online. It is my understanding that once offered they can't add ADM after the fact. Does anyone have experience to suggest otherwise?

Hopefully you have one of the following:

Reputable dealer.
or
The purchase agreement showing your final price signed by both you and the dealer.

BTW….nice user name!

Once you have a written offer to purchase, I don't see how they could add ADM.

I think the car market is starting to crater. I wouldn't expect to see ADM for much longer. I'm starting to see local dealers advertise cars at MSRP.

i guess the rate hikes are having the cooling effect that the Fed hoped for.

I have no reason to suspect them but I'm not a regular customer. I've bought from them once before about 8 years ago. I tend to keep my new cars about a decade so I've never purchased in anything like this market.

I need to get the update (premium to CR1) signed and to mention Z-plan which they had agreed to on my original order.

And thanks, the closest thing I have to a second language is math.

Once you have a written offer to purchase, I don't see how they could add ADM.
That is my assumption too, I just hate to be surprised after a 3 to 6 month expected wait.

MME's in particular and EVs generally still seem to be in hot demand at least locally.
It will be interesting to see what the market will be like when I'm nearing delivery. I'd much prefer to be able to do some shopping on the lot but I think the auto companies are enjoying this build to order model.

Used car prices will drop dramatically when dealers start selling at MSRP or even discounted. Buying a new car at inflated prices right now probably isn't a great idea unless you are fine with some depreciation.
