When I picked up my car on 8/4, my sales showed me this. He said they had just received it. Some here said this is when production should start, but doesn't look that way.

Probably Ford is trying to finish up the 2022MY since they are so far behind. I say if US companies stayed in the US and stopped depending on the Globalist model of ordering almost everything from overseas and making in-house America would be stronger and production less prone to global shortages. ie a major producer of high-quality neon gas used in the production of semiconductors is produced in Ukraine. Neon is a by-product of steel production... oh wait that's right China and not the US anymore.

I'll be honest I don't think anyone knows at the Dealerships

- From my sales woman on 8/8 ( All the Ford meeting told us was “late August”. )
- From Ford Fleet which was also posted in here with a link it showed that it was updated from 8/15 to 8/25
- On that form it shows 10/31 as tentative production date

The perceived notion of China dominance in EV battery minerals will be short lived ... Fact: the US has the fourth largest ore of lithium but it is not mined aggressively as in China (no regard to environmental impact). Fact - the largest lithium ores are located in four Free Trade Agreement countries: Australia, Canada, Chile & Mexico. Fact - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturer Company (TSMC) is the single largest manufacturer of world's most advance semiconductors ... but has huge mega factories in mainland China. I believe the Inflation Reduction Act along with the USDOT & USDOE NEV network initiative is a positive direction toward adoption of EV albeit by curtailing any short term benefit of most of tax incentives for purchase of EV's in 2023.
The establishment of designated Alternative Fuel Corridor (AFC - dcFC no more than 50 miles apart) by each state is another good initiative. FL has the headache of dealing with hurricane evacuation corridors for EV's.

The issue isn’t the mining or existence of the minerals in the US. The issue is the processing of the raw minerals after it has been mined.

The US simply doesn’t have the infrastructure set up to process minerals. And it’ll be difficult to get that you and running because of the environmental impacts and push back from the environmentalist.

Also, there's a reason we don't build a lot of things in the USA. Your iPhone would be $3,000 dollars. People love made in USA but they're unwilling to pay for it. I predict that these EV credit qualifying vehicles will be more expensive than your non-US built EVs. Not because the manufacturers want to take your $7,500 credit and pad their profits, it's going to be because it'll cost more to manufacture in the US due to minimum wage requirements.

Two different dealerships in my area have said independently that Mach E order banks will open 8/25. Another thread on this forum suggests that remaining 2022 production will be committed on 8/18. I suppose Ford wants to figure out the situation with unfilled 2022 orders before opening up ordering for 2023.

...and then it would cost waaaaay more. That's why neon and steel production are elsewhere now - the US couldn't compete on price. I'm not happy about it, but that's what it is.

“(i) extracted OR processed

Doesn’t matter where it is processed as long as it’s extracted in the US or free trade partners, and vice versa.

Hopefully I am wrong, but this sheet does match reality. Maverick MY23 Order Date was pushed back to September: https://fordauthority.com/2022/07/2023-ford-maverick-order-banks-will-now-open-up-in-september/

As noted above, there’s a lot of MY22 orders that are delayed so this is one way to clear them out before the new MY orders start production.

Good call out. My point still stands though. The environmentalist won’t allow the kind of mining that China is getting away with. The extraction or processing of the minerals in the US will be considerably more costly than other countries with more lax regulations.

Seems like this could be a huge boost to Mexico. They are a trade partner with the cheaper labor, more relaxed regulations and some mining that could be supplemented from South American partners like Chile.

I wonder if the '23 mach-e will still have LFP for standard range. Or maybe that'll be for ROW only now. I was looking forward to a standard range LFP with the tax credit but that seems unlikely now.
