KC is a train hub. Just like the airlines have their hubs - a centralized location where everything fans out in all directions. I'm sure there are times when things go more directly to their destinations, but KC seems to be the one Ford's contracted shippers use.

I should probably get used to the circuitous routes - mine will probably look different on a roadtrip with my MME! I was just looking at a plan to get to a small town in UT. Charging will add about 3-4 hours.

Not at all! If I were 20 years younger, I might think trains were just in movies! (though we don't have a ton of them in Las Vegas - not like growing up in the midwest) I'm old enough to even have RIDDEN on a train!
I was wrong about the convoy. My date got pushed back 2 weeks to about the original date. The convoy truck was just to port it over from KC Southern over to Norfolk Southern rail. It's now in a different railcar, and en route. Peru, IN. So it's about 250mi away from me now. However, it could sit at the Ford Plant/ Railyard for a week, who knows? What I do know is that rail logistics is so messy, there's probably a reason why they don't want the public to know rail freight logistics like they do for mail/package logistics. And I could see for security reasons, too. At least I can track it in the NS system!
I'm interested in how long it takes to get your car shipped. I just live 20 miles south of you.
Oh sorry, I’m not in Peru, IN. Norfolk Southern told me the railcar passed Peru, IN yesterday. I live 250mi east of that, in NE Ohio. My dealer said it’s gonna get taken by rail to the Avon Lake Assembly Plant. Then trucks take them to the NE Ohio area dealers.
