40 Mach E competitors. Why did everyone have the same SUV idea at the same time??

I just want a small electric convertible damnit!!
Like an MX-5 EV? That would be swell.

Ford could just bring back the Ford Focus or Capri or whatever cool hatch it used to sell in EV format. Alas, like others have posted, I don't think Ford has any appetite after all money talks, BS walks. And money is in the fossil fueled trucks/SUVs at least here in North America.

Whatever happened to the thing about Ford hired lots of Tesla and Rivian ex-employees???

I'm curious to see how the VW/Rivian partnership will pan out. VW can manufacture vehicles in scale and cost. Leveraging Rivian's tech and vertical model, this might be the right type of joint venture for legacy manufacturers.

Exactly my point!

Whoever builds one will have 100% of that market share.

Instead, we will likely next get the 41st electric SUV. ?‍♂

Chevy needs to get off their ass and build the electric corvette.

And at the same time, Mazda should already have built a Miata electric.

People would buy both of those for sure.

I keep hearing that a Porsche Cayman EV is coming soon, a Boxter would be the next thing, right? (it's same platform as the Macan isn't it?)

There is no cannibalization. EV ownership in the U.S. is still in the single digits. There's a 90%+ market out there to exploit. It'll be a long time before people have only non-ICE options. And SUVs/Crossovers dominate the passenger vehicle market just about everywhere in the world, so no surprise there.

People would buy them if they were priced to lose money, as most EVs are. Perhaps that's the reason. When my product loses money on a marginal basis, I am not eager to corner large market segments. I'd rather be just one of 40 competitors in the same segment, and lose less money.

Oh and while I’m complaining about the market misses that I think car manufacturers have made with BEVs……. Make the cars GOOD looking!!

So many odd design choices.
Oddball color choices too. They give us like 4 colors and 18 shades of grey. ??

You’re assuming the current BEV market is expanding quickly enough to take over the other 90%.

The sales numbers per model show otherwise.

I want an electric 2 seater real sports car. None exists in the US market.

Not even close to the same platform.

The Cayman/Boxster are the same platform. They are 2-seat mid-engine masterpieces of balance and handling. And are pure Porsche. No Audi/VW crossbreeding. ? (although abandoning the beloved flat-6 recently is a bit of sacrilege, in many purists opinion. I'm included)

Porsche branded SUV's are just that. Branded versions of VW/Audi platforms.

I accidentally said "Macan" above, meant to say Cayman. If there's a Cayman EV coming, I'm saying wouldn't a Boxter EV be a possibility?
