I don't disagree that there has been an auto setting...somewhere. But it's never behaved that way before, with the "auto" icon appearing directly above the heated seat icon. I'm not imagining things, it was not like that this morning.

Only thing I can think of is if 6.14 changed a setting I've forgotten about...but I don't see anything in the manual about a toggle.
Here's a thread from 2021 where people claimed the same thing. It's actually a very interesting phenomenon, as you can see how adamant people were even back then that it was new (and many more times since then).

It originally looked like this before there was an option to multi-tap the button:

Ford Mustang Mach-E 6.14.0 Software Update just installed 1710983401779-9x

But it was changed to its current look in March of 2023 with PowerUp 4.2.2.

I’ve been playing with 6.14 for the last couple of days and the laziness of Ford devs is astonishing. Ok, they changed the buttons at the top, but left the ugly buttons in the apps menu.

And when do we get the ability to see bigger version of the drawers???

You guys know there’s a hatch button on the hatch right? Yah, ya have to bend over quite a bit and reach in a few inches and actually push it while balancing on two feet exposed to the elements, but, … it’s there. Just in case you didn’t know.
It’s very cumbersome to use when your hands are full. This is why the hands-free hatch release is so great!

There has also been a change to the heated seats functionality - there are now two icons when you tap, like the cooling setting in the Lightning.

New top icon seems to be a toggle for an automatic setting? Not sure what it is for yet, but when it's toggled on (orange) the old icon showing what level the seat is set to changes to orange as well, rather than showing which level the seat is set to:

No there hasn’t. The vehicle has had an auto setting for heated seats since MY21 Job 1.

I promise you, hand-to-God, on a bottle a maple syrup, it just showed up with 6.14.

So since you've had it a while, how's it work? Does it just cycle on and off? Seems a bit useless...
No. It’s the same as it’s always been. They just changed the way it’s displayed when in Auto. It works very well. I turn it on in the fall, off in the spring, and don’t worry about the seat heaters. They’re always at the right temp ?

You must have long arms to reach that from the driver seat. I’m impressed.

Yeah I think the auto setting for seat warmers changed to this current style about a year ago or more. Maybe when they expanded what the knob can control. We can probably go watch some videos of people demoing the updated knob control and you'll see it. I do use the auto setting...mean leave it on all the time.

Edit:
Look around 3:45 in this video:

Pre 4.1.2 I definitely saw the Auto icon. Post 4.1.2 I never saw it again, and never noticed it was gone since I never used the feature.

It's conceivable that the top portion of the heated seat control graphic or the entire rounded tray treatment was hidden under another graphic layer, since UIs are just a bunch of layered images. Then somehow magically with 6.14 the layering glitch was fixed. It never even change to light grey with that rounded treatment at the bottom, it was always flat like the steering wheel icon beside it.

The three other drivers in our house have never seen that graphic, so at least it's not time to go get the straightjacket...

And thanks for digging up those old UI pictures, makes a bit more sense to me. I can see it's not a new feature, but somehow 6.14 must have fixed a graphics glitch that had been there for me since 4.1.2

Thanks Jim - @generaltso solved the mystery for me with the pre- 4.1.2 images he posted. I think somehow post- 4.1.2 that graphic treatment moving the Auto toggle to the top and adding the rounded gray background (like the temp control) did not appear for me until yesterday.

I'm not saying Auto is new, but that graphic glitch (I assume that's what it was) somehow fixed itself with the 6.14 OTA.

Seems more conceivable that you just never noticed. But I guess we can give the dead horse a rest :p

There were posts about the screen turning off when opening the door. If you’re opening the door, you’re probably getting out right? The there’s a button conveniently placed right under the hatch.

Didn’t mean to denigrate your pet peeve about the hatch “settings” issue. Rant on.

I'm not opening the door to get out of the car. Do you have kids, Tampa Mike? This is life with kids. I spend a lot of time in driveways and soccer parking lots and grocery stores. Parent stuff. "Pop the trunk, dad!" This is life. This is why there has always been a physical button.
