A Guide to Understanding OTA Updates

I still don't understand the updates.
As I was unhappy with the number of updates (3.2) my dealer was kind enough to update everything module by module in 3 days.
So now everything is fresh.

Yes, but after that came 3-4 2023 OTA updates....
Right now 6.3 is displayed.

I do not understand this.
If all the modules are up to date, then why is there an OTA - which shouldn't be, since the modules have been updated.

And so in this version there is still no Youtube in the car or Bluecruise.
(But I probably wouldn't use either of them)

What could be the explanation for this?

(Actually I am asking because I am waiting for the HVJB to be replaced and I wonder if they can do something about it in the service department.)

The dealer updates are different from the OTA updates. They updated all the modules that needed an update but after that new updates can show up such as GWM and this can "unlock" more recent OTA updates.
You can expect further OTA updates as your car is behind compared to the rest of EU models OTA updates.
You should drive regularly to receive the updates as some conditions are needed, please refer to the first post of this thread.

I find it funny that, without any environmental changes, I'll go many months without any updates at all. And I'm in the EA. I went all summer and fall without any any updates. Then finally got 6.X, then shortly after got 10.X. It's like they don't even get transmitted to me, then I get them all at once. But there are many "dark months" in a row where it feels like my car is totally offline. With no other changes at all.

I'm happy to report it's been a while since I've seen a "failed to install" update, but maybe that's actually still happening and it's not reporting it.

Anyway, I'm on 10.1.1 now which I believe is "caught up" but that hasn't been the case till recently.

I am a March 22, 2022 built Premium ER AWD. In the past 2 weeks I have successfully received and installed 6 updates Including BlueCrus 1.3. @Ford Motor Company tell those that are hustling the OTAS I SAID THANK YOU.

How do i know whether any updates ever came out and should have been downloaded since i purchased the car? I used to own a 2021 Job 1 Select (which got numerous OTA updates over time), and upgraded to a 2024 Premium Extended Range in October 2024. 6 months into the ownership of the new mach-e, i have yet to see a single OTA update install. It might be ok/normal given the car is fairly recent, but how can i tell?

If you have the 10.2 update, you turn off the lane keep with the button on the steering wheel.

That said, from a safety perspective, I would keep it on.

I guess I don’t have the update because I turn that off and still have the car displayed in the center. I’ll check my software version later today.
