My OTA software updates worked fine, but the latest started failing:

"We recently tried to install a Ford Power-Up software update for your 2022 Mustang Mach-E but were unsuccessful"

The car is parked the parking brake is set, doors are closed, etc. I can trigger the update to start manually. Then it counts down but eventually fails, always. I brought it in for service at the dealer. They replaced the 12V battery and claimed it would all be fine and dandy after that. It isn't. Now every time I start the car I get the annoying message that the update failed and should try again.

I wonder what condition is not met. The 12V battery SoC is 88%, the car is parked and locked, and it can access WiFi and AT&T.

I was seeing this same problem for the past few days - daily warnings of a failed update after OTA previously worked fine. I happened to remember that late last week, I had connected to a public wifi network. When I pulled into my garage tonight, I went to the Connectivity screen and manually connected to my home wifi network. After that, I went into Software Update, tapped "Update Now", and it updated successfully. Just a hunch, but some software may be losing track of which network to connect after using public wifi. IIRC, last week was the first time I tried the public wifi feature.

I woke up today to a message saying I had an update. Checking out what the update was for (4.2.2 I think), it said it added the parking lot game and the camera icon to the main screen. Thing is, I already had both of those?

Does anyone know how OTAs will resume after installing updates via FDRS? I "caught" my MME up after getting a new APIM, but how does the ford server know what OTA to send me next if I am mid power up in terms of module installation, order, etc?

Any update? I took mine to the dealer for this issue, and so far they've replaced the Gateway Module, verified the 12V battery health, and are going back and forth with the Ford engineers. Still no luck.

Two apologies in advance - I just got my 23' MME a week ago, so I am doing my best to learn all this new lingo. Also, I posted something similar in the Poll thread for Sync version, which probably wasn't the right thread for this topic.

I am trying to understand how versions of Sync, BC and various software module updates are related or dependent on each other and how OTA addresses them. I have received one update this week and it has the identifier ECG-24.2.4.9. Its not exactly clear to me how that relates (if at all) to any of the other software versions (Sync, BC or module updates). A person with FDRS account was kind enough to run my VIN (3FMTK4SX2PMA69526) and captured a screenshot showing that my car has a number of updates for various modules available. Link to screenshot

My questions are:
For the various modules that have updates available, should I expect those to eventually happen via OTA? Or is this something that will require a trip the dealer? And if the dealer does this, who pays for that labor? Its sounds like it can take a number of hours to do.

How can I find out what Sync and BlueCruise version my car is running? Does the FDRS access show this? If I get a 2 day subscription, will I be able to see this?

Are there dependencies between the module updates and the Sync or BC updates? For example, do the modules need to be updated first in order to support the new versions/features of various PowerUps. (Are the module updates causing a log jam?)

I very much appreciate any insight and thoughts on these!

Some of the updates will occur via OTA. But Ford is slow to release OTAs so it could take a year. Dealers will not update your car for free unless there is an issue with something or a TSB/CSP specifying an update needs to be done. If you want your car fully updated, you will have to pay for labor at $200+/hr and it would typically take 6 hours or longer to update the whole car. Alternatively you can find a local FDRS updater to do updates for you or buy the equipment yourself for an estimated $750.

You can view your SYNC version in the "About SYNC" section on the touchscreen. You have a Job 2 2023 so you have BlueCruise 1.3 currently. Each module has its own software. Here are all your software versions:

Yes there are module dependancies and things need to happen in a specific order for some series of updates. You got a GWM OTA, so the APIM v6.14 will probably be next.

Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful! The dealer route sounds painfully expensive. I guess if it bugs me enough, I just might go the local updater or learn to do it myself. Great suggestions and I really appreciate your help!

If you’re capable of following instructions carefully, FDRS isn’t that hard. The first post in this thread was amended recently to be more current. Might be worth looking at again. You also don’t need to buy the equipment all at once either,

Ooh! Follow up question - how does the above screenshot and module updates relate to Sync version? Everyone seems to be talking about the newest version of Sync (6.14 ?). Thank you!

Scratch that. I think its starting to make some sense now.

I did see that. I think the initial capital costs scared me off but after seeing Mach-Lee‘s post about labor costs at a dealer, it all seems far more reasonable now.

I bought things over a period of time. from time to time a Mme owner sells their vehicle and disposes of their equipment. You can find some deals there. I got the mongoose adapter that way and saved a bit. I bought the power supply through Amazon as shipping out here can be shocking.

As long as you’re not suffering from a terminal case of FOMO, patience will pay off.

Good advice! I am a bit of a tinkerer so this might be right up my alley. I might see if I find some good deal for the Mongoose and start there. However, I do need my car to work. And I would rather not brick it.

Hello guys

2022-es EW AWD

I still don't understand the updates.
As I was unhappy with the number of updates (3.2) my dealer was kind enough to update everything module by module in 3 days.
So now everything is fresh.

Yes, but after that came 3-4 2023 OTA updates....
Right now 6.3 is displayed.

I do not understand this.
If all the modules are up to date, then why is there an OTA - which shouldn't be, since the modules have been updated.

And so in this version there is still no Youtube in the car or Bluecruise.
(But I probably wouldn't use either of them)

What could be the explanation for this?

(Actually I am asking because I am waiting for the HVJB to be replaced and I wonder if they can do something about it in the service department.)
