Just filled out their online recall form. But A2Z didn’t indicate if they would be sending a link to print label for the return? What about you folks? Perhaps they are sending out the replacement and with it a label? Not ready to ship anything back to them until i have the new version in my hands. I did get a confirmation that they got my request but that was it.

I think Tesla is being too alarmist here. Nobody is going to use an adapter 10,000 cycles. And the Mach-E never draws more than 450 amps. So it will never overheat.
agree on the overcautious side and it's a bit ironic that tesla referred it to NHTSA for an official recall process.

Same. Completed everything but just holding and waiting for further instruction.

I'd like to assume that it would be best to send a label with the replacement adapter so the V1 can just go back in that same box they ship the Pro in.

return/exchange details are lacking right now. the email acknowledgement i received said they will "create return shipping for customer", 1-3 days for verification, and they will send next update shortly. i would guess they want to see return shipment/pickup notice before sending the new one.

If they are asking for an order number, that's not going to be possible for me.. I purchased mine 6 months ago and the paperwork is long gone.

If there is a NTSB on it, there was a investigation and fact based determination. Someone had a problem to report it to them. You can also bet that the exchange was a negotiated settlement with the NTSB. Now the complainant is possibly Tessla. but that is protected information. So we likely will never know. You can bet that is was cheaper to settle with the solution than fighting it though.

If it’s anything like Apple when you sell back an old phone or watch, the label on the box they ship you has the top part to you on a perforated page that you tear off to expose the return label beneath it. So, just put yours in the box, tear off the label to you and take it to UPS/FedEx. Easy peasy.

EDIT: The more I read about this, the more it seems like Tesla is just being a bully by sending a cease and desist letter, and forcing them to recall the V1 adapter for an unrealistic use case. I don’t know of any EVs that draw 500 amps for a whole hour.
Agree - A2Z has been the most solid and reliable of all 3 adapters I had.

Having had the OG 1st gen Typhoon and now currently using the 2nd gen Pro - neither have shown any issues - as a matter of fact, they don't heat up like the other adapters including the Ford/Tesla one that is being recalled....

For the love of Zeus if only there were better chargers than Tesla spread around we wouldn’t have to deal with that company in any way, shape or form. Would be just fine with me. But alas, not enough EV sales (yet) to entice some big hitters into reselling juice with highly functional, high speed chargers. But they will in the future since it’s gotta be profitable to be able to buy juice from the generation company and mark it up 3-6 times. Yeah I know the stations cost big bucks but don’t require staffing and can operate 24/7/365.

They do require staffing, we just don't see it. There are computer rooms monitoring the chargers for faults, assistance security. Also strategic repair teams and parts.

I’m glad to hear A2Z has an upgrade program from their first offering to the new one. I kind of figured that the new one was supplanting the older one. ??
