The last 2 days I've been driving on the thruway with cruise control set. It's clear and hot here in New York. Average traffic. Then the cruise control just kicks off with a little 'canceled' banner over the outline of the car. Not even when I'm behind another car. It's actually more unsettling when someone is behind me. I can reactivate cruise right away and it's fine again for a while. I tried cleaning front and rear camera, but it didn't help. The phenomenon seems to have started happening after the last software update? Anybody else see this or have a suggestion. thx, john

This has happened to me when road paint is faint or no longer there. I'm guessing you travel this stretch of road often. If the paint isn't an issue. You might try cleaning your windshield.

You can check your settlings to see if anything changed after the software update. Open your center console screen, go to Settings > Driver Assistance, and ensure that Lane Centering and Adaptive Cruise Control features are switched to the desired mode .

There is no rear camera. And, if you're cleaning the front camera under the lip of the hood, that's also nothing to do with adaptive cruise. The camera is in the mirror housing. So unless your windshield is dirty, that's not the issue.

Adaptive cruise uses radar, lane centering uses the windshield camera. Try cleaning your radar sensors.

In very bright, sunny conditions, the white lane lines can be difficult to distinguish from the road surface. It could possibly be this.

Yeah, the rule of thumb is if the lane lines are low contrast in the current conditions (for whatever the reason), then lane keeping may cancel. It might also impact adaptive cruise control since presumably it needs to "see" what lane the car in front is in. (Would be interesting to have this confirmed or refuted by someone with knowledge of the details.

Thanks for the clarification. I should have said, in my original post, that I am not using lane centering. However, late yesterday, I got a 'camera fault' service warning.

The fault is likely unrelated to the last OTA you got (many people want to blame coincidental problems on OTAs). If I had to guess, it's another camera coax cable fault, especially if it happens over bumps in the road. The usual fix is to replace the front camera coax cable.
