When I use adaptive cruise control, there are segments in my town where the adaptive cruise control is displaying an inaccurate speed limit. In some cases, The adaptive cruise control appears to be responding to some ghost speed sign, and upping the speed limit to 55 when the speed limit is actually 40. And it happened today along a section of road that is 35 miles an hour and my car is reading 55 miles an hour. I’ve looked at HERE technologies, and the speed limit looks fine there so where is Ford getting this information from and how does a consumer report the error? Anyone know?

I have the same problem, what I found out is that the system is reading the small mile marker signs. You just have to learn to live with it or turn off the predictive speed.

Do you have speed sign recognition turned on?

The system uses a combination of data sources, including reading the signs with its camera. I've experienced misreads in the past (e.g., 85 in a 35 MPH zone - which would have been really exciting if I had the auto speed adjust feature turned one!).

I've noticed that recently it does a better job of ignoring "junk" speed limit signs such as speed limits for trucks and vehicles towing, but I still don't trust it enough the reenable auto speed adjust.

I have this turned on all of the time, and experience a misread about once per thousand miles. (except for a 45 mph exit lane, which always tries to slow the car down). There should be a gong announcing speed changes, especially increasing mph more that 10.

It's not a misread, it's a DATABASE problem.

Road by our house is unmarked, 55mph. Car thinks it i 25mph. I went through the process of changing the database, took close to a year, and the change showed up. 6 months later it reverted back.

If I catch and report an error on google maps it generally is checked and corrected within 2 weeks. Along with a request to continue doing it. This sort of thing will be a factor in my next car purchase.

I did find some of the errors in the HERE database and made the changes six months ago but the incorrect speeds are still showing up. The other error of 55 in a 35 zone is right in town and I don’t know where they are reading that. It’s not a mile marker thing. And in another case, there is no speed limit on the road. The navigation system just goes from 45 to 35 with no warning. It’s definitely not the best adaptive cruise control I have ever experienced. I love the fact that the navigation system can adjust the speed, but if the speed is incorrect, then it becomes worthless.

When you find a car company with navigation that is a) accurate and b) always updated, please let me know...

I made my change with HERE. They responded. Took over 6 months, because I think Ford only
updates it every 6 months. Then it reverted back. HERE stopped responding.

Roads without speed signs have their speeds determined by local / state laws. Our county's website says all unmarked main roads are 55. I provided links to HERE showing that statement, as well as the county saying it was 55. Got changed, reverted back.

I turned that off the day after I got the car. I can read the signs and adjust the speed easily on the steering wheel.

Turning the feature off is not the point. A feature needs to work correctly and there should be a mechanism to report flaws to improve the system. NOT helpful to state "turn the feature off". OF COURSE I can do that. I was looking to see if anyone knew of the proper place to HELP improve a feature's flaws. And yes I do turn it off. Goodness.

I travel regularly on state route 30, where the speed limit is 45 MPH. When the car encounters a route sign like this one, it insists the limit is 30 MPH.

With all the news about AI, you would the the system could recognize the words “Speed Limit” before acting on random numbers along the road! Mine will read mile marker signs as the posted speed.
