If I have a home charge point - such as a zappi - and set a schedule for charging (say between 0000 and 0400) if I also set the car to have comfort settings to depart at 0800, when the car “asks” for power from the mains to accomplish the preconditioning, does the Zappi allow it to be provided or prevent it as it is now outside of its schedule?

No, it wouldn't precondition then.

It's better to set the charge schedule on the car rather than the EVSE so preconditioning and battery cooling works when needed.

I have the schedule set on both. That prohibits the vehicle from charging during peak hours unless I override the EVSE.

Don’t set a schedule for the charge point and let the car have the schedule based on the electricity provider and the best time of day rates.
