Anti-Lockout Solution for 2023-2024 Mach-E

My grandfather had a Mode-A in the barn. It had rope door handles, so I guess this is just Ford DNA at this point?

As someone who has had this problem I am seriously considering busting out some p-coord and rigging this up until things get resolved. In the meantime I am closely monitoring my 12volt status on the website and with a cigarette lighter plugin that shows voltage

Some 2023 owners have been getting completely locked out of their Mach-E's due to a software glitch. The doors will not unlock by any means, and jumping the leads in the bumper to open the frunk will not work. It's a total lockout situation that so far has required a tow to a dealer to fix. It's some type of communication glitch where the doors won't receive the unlock signal (not the 12V battery dying). I've previously given a technical synopsis here.

As supercool as this hack is, there were a string of OTAs that appeared to be a back-out of the config change, then a re-apply of the zone fix, which seemed to have been pushed to the 23 fleet with some rapidity. Today I even got some charging instrumentation improvement.

I was hoping / expecting those two updates a few days ago might have fixed this - are you quite sure the updates a few days ago didn't fix the lockout issue?

This will not work on the rear handles since they have no mechanical operation.

Aw, too bad! I was thinking I could rig a version of this for my Uber passengers to open the door from the inside as less than 1% can open the door without my verbal help, despite the labels I carefully worded and place on the inside of the rear doors. Most of them succeed in lowering the window. Good luck getting out that way!!

i meant security issue. I’m surprised it won’t panic if door has been opened from inside when the car is locked and no fob/PAAK is present. I know there are much cheaper cars that have this.

I'm surmising that a fob or PAAK needs to be present. If not then car jackers can gain entry if they can get to and manipulate the inside door open handle so yes, a security issue then. Let me know how your tests pan out!

Is it possible that this is happening because not all of the 2023s have received 23-PU1024-MCP-FX? I only ask because that just magically arrived on my 2023.5 GT this evening.

You can fuck it if you prefer but the current software issue seems to only be 2023, and should get figured out. My 2022 is fine, and no reports (yet) from 2024...
