- 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-e
I have a '22 MME Premium 4wd w/ 15,500 miles, and 13 months left on a 3-year lease. As with any car there are pros and cons. The pros:
1. GREAT driving car, around town, on the freeway or curvy roads. One of the best I ever owned.
2. Interior space and storage are very good.
3. Decent efficiency - as advertised - though I wish it was better
The Cons:
1. Buggy software, especially in cold weather. Most of the glitches are not major but create annoyances that are too frequent. In fairness: a friend has the 2023 model (same options) and he has had few of the problems I've had. I also have a 2024 Model Y an have had zero software issues with it.
2. I had the control module replaced last month under recall and since then the one-pedal driving feature stops working while driving. That is incredibly unsafe. The dealer said Ford is working on a software fix but I suspect that could take months. In the meantime I was advised to shut off OPD - which I love using - until the fix is done.
3. Depreciation: this isn't specific to the MME but its crazy how much value the car has lost. Fortunately its a lease and I can give it back next year.
4. The eyeglass holder in the middle of the headliner keeps breaking and I'm now waiting for my third replacement. It is held in place by a tiny/skinny/flimsy plastic pin which is practically designed to break. What a stupid, crappy design. May seem like a minor issue to some but I use it a lot and its really annoying having to leave it in the "down" position. Note: the service tech told me this has been a problem in other models so its a Ford-wide problem.
I would consider buying an MME again if:
1. The price/deal are right - I paid MSRP 2 years ago
2. I am convinced that the software glitches are mostly solved and
3. Efficiency and range are improved, which appears to be the case on the latest models
Of course it depends on what else is out there. When I bought it the only cars I considered were the MME and Model Y, and I ended up getting one of each.
Let me know what you think!
