So true to form, when trying to remove the ford wire from the speaker connection, the factory connector melted enough that the pin came out. I went old school copper to copper. But I am getting no sound. Looking at the instructions, I'm wondering if I need to bypass the crossover connection that is in the provided speaker leads on the Kenwood KFC-X3c speaker.

There’s no need to use the crossover that came with the aftermarket speakers. There's already a crossover upstream in the system. But, I don't think using the crossover would result in no sound.

Just finished installing an Infinity REF-3032CFX. This youtube video was awesome (thank you if you're on this thread!):

Reusing the old connector and soldering those leads onto the new speaker seems like the best way to do it, and was pretty easy.

So far I believe the sound quality is quite a bit better, now all the other speakers in the car sound pretty poor in comparison! You just can't win ;)

I just replaced my blown center speaker with an Infinity REF-3032CFX following the video above so if you're looking to do the same, I have an extra one to sell. $35 including shipping to anywhere in the US. DM me.

I just had my brand new to me 2023 Mach-E have the center speaker replaced at the dealership here in Florida. Sounded like absolute crap. Now sounds decent for what the system is. Approx 15890 miles on the clock.

Does anyone else have an extra speaker they are looking to offload?

Just as an update, my extra speaker has been sold. However, a couple more folks DM'ed me so perhaps they should join up?

my center speaker has been static-y and buzzy with the door chime and certain podcasts and music. this has been the case since i got the car back from the dealer a few weeks ago after 2 dash replacements for a passenger side rattle - that rattle is now resolved, but it's annoying to hear this new center-speaker related static.

appears to be a common problem.

although it'd be under warranty to replace, i'm just tired of going back to the dealer, so i just unplugged and removed the speaker like others have done and the static is gone now. i did lose one of the clips into the defrost vent near the windshield like someone else, despite the warning!

i had tried just "stereo" mode (instead of "surround") and that definitely helped, but the door chime and some radio stations and podcasts still fed some sound through the center speaker even with the setting to "stereo" and it annoyed me.

but for now i'm back to loving the car again :)

may get either the kenwood or infinity replacement and put that in at some point, since it sounds like the factory paper one is prone to failing anyways.

ok, i bit... kenwood was on sale on amazon

sodered for the 1st time in years but managed to do a decent job connecting the factory connector wires onto the kenwood speaker. it's definitely a heftier build than the flimsy paper stock center speaker. some foam tape around the edge of the speaker and it all buttoned up nicely. got some spare trim clips off amazon to replace the one i lost off the speaker grill/trim last week when i had removed the stock speaker.

door chimes, podcasts, talk radio, etc are now clear as are classical music that tended to play through the center speaker more.

i'm no audiophile and agree leaving it in stereo for some music can sound a bit better. but for daily use, i like having the center speaker working... admittedly a bit of OCD bothered me knowing something in the car was not working as it should :)
