Hi All,

First time posting, been lurking for a few months. I bought a CPO '22 GTPE in dark matter gray about a month ago, and I have been loving it. I am having one minor problem where the audio system fails to work on maybe every 10th drive. I primarily notice because I might have a spotify song playing viacarplay, and I can see that the system thinks its playing something, but there is no output from the speakers. I don't think its limited to just spotify/carplay though, as I dont hear the propulsion sound (or any other chimes/voices/sounds).

When this happens, I can turn the car off and back on again, and its restored (for a bit). I have tried the SYNC reboot (hold volume down + advance-track for 10-ish seconds), and while the system does reboot, the audio generally isnt restored. So far, the only methods that works is to shut the car completely off.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
-Greg
It's your iPhone. Mine does that sometimes, and rebooting the iPhone fixes it. FM radio still works normal so it's not the car.

And some of the time, I only lose the left channel of sound. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, happens to me. I just stop car, turn off, open drivers door, close it, start again and it reconnects fully & properly.

This has never happened to me in thousands of drives over nearly four years. I use CarPlay and Android Auto regularly.

I wonder why it happens to some cars and not others.
Happens quite often here it is just audio from the phone as when it happens test the radio and it rings loud and clear. With the quality of charging and maintaining itself of this car I have picked my battles and rebooting the phone and/or the car is not one of them.

Just adding that sometimes between the car , a set of air pods , the house speakers , etc Spotify . Sometimes Spotify gets confused. Stopping and restarting the app helped. For me this is always tied to timing on how fast I leave after starting the car. The phone disconnect and reconnect reliably fixes it for me lately. I’ve never had to turn the car off.

I'm quite skeptical that this is a bug with iOS. It's been happening on my MME for many months (I believe since a MME update last year) while it's never once happened in our other car. Certainly not definitive proof, but my money is on the MME software.

I have had this bug in my 2022 MME for years now. At times it works for months…other times it will fail once or twice a week.

Same iPhone in every other car (including dozens of rental cars when I travel included) it has NEVER happened, except in the MME. I know Ford blames iOS, but it is a Ford issue.

I used to reboot Sync and sometimes reboot the phone, but for the last few months I have been using the phone option where I select bluetooth and then back to car play a second later and it has worked for me so far 100% of the time.

100% this is a Ford issue. The version of iOS does not change anything

This bug seems to have gone away for me, thank goodness. But when it was common it was fairly frustrating. Rebooting Sync didn't always solve the problem. Rebooting Sync and rebooting the phone solved the problem fairly reliably IIRC. I didn't think to stop the car, turn it off, and open the doors, probably because I was usually on a freeway road trip during which such a maneuver is not ideal.

Maybe it will never happen again for me, but if it does I'll try disconnecting and reconnecting carplay from the settings menu. That's easier than rebooting the phone or stopping the car.
