Question from a country without bluecruise/handsfree: Do automatic lane change feature work without handsfree mode with normal hands on lane centering also?

Thanks, then it makes no sense to try to force enable it anyway

Does it work hands-on without a BC subscription?

I guess I'm scratching my head here. The "feature" is a handsfree lane change, where the vehicle takes your desire to change lanes (touching blinker), and makes a handsfree lane change.

If you don't have handsfree, and you're holding the wheel, why would you want the vehicle to change lanes for you? You are already holding the wheel. You can make the lane change, and if the vehicle does it your hands, on the wheel, will be moving... I don't get it.

I don't think it was a question worth being angry about being asked given the hands-on lane centering with assisted lane changes is a feature implemented by several other vendors using the same hardware. I got the answer, and I am fine with it.

Whose angry? Not understanding what the feature gives you if you're holding the wheel...

Yesterday I used it, and it decided to not go, after starting to go, because the person behind me was coming up faster. I would have stepped on it myself.

Ford Mustang Mach-E auto lane changes, only for hands free? blink

Similar to when the vehicle steers with BC hands on, I'm wondering if this feature extends similarly to lane change.

I get that. But what's the advantage?

With lane keeping, the technology keeps you between the lines. Makes sense. But when you now want to change lanes, YOU, the driver, instinctively look in your mirror to see if it's clear (go ahead, try not to look, you can't). You have to turn on the blinker either way. Do you really see an advantage to having the vehicle turn the wheel to the left (or right) gently for you, since your hands are already on it and will be moving as the wheel turns? I don't see any benefit there.

Yes, when the car is in hands-on mode (and presumably getting ready for hands-free), the lane change assist feature will sometimes be available.

Difference is that turn signal completely disables lane centering and it will do nothing until after centered for a second or so in the other lane when it will turn on again and then reposition itself. It could have been kept active during this transistion

Over in the truck world, we never considered that "Hands On" mode was Bluecruise mode at all. If we are driving along in Bluecruise Mode, and suddenly the truck switches to Hands-on mode, we describe that as Bluecruise disengaging.

Bluecruise disengaged is no different than using Adaptive Cruise/Lane Centering on non-Bluecruise roads. Except for the fact that the evil eye scanning witch is present even though we are NOT in hands-free mode. (which should be none of her business!) ??

There must be some advantage or else those other vehicle manufaturers (that offer hands-on driving assist) would never have enabled the lane-change feature (with just a flick of the stalk). Too bad Ford only offers it in BC zones, although understandbly so for now.
