Need to get my Mach-E blessed or something. Since getting it in January I've chipped the windshield 2x and have about 8 paint chips on the hood. I bought the tri-coat thinking it would be more durable but seems to chip if you look at it sideways. Thing got even worse the past week though as a pickup truck pulled in front of me on the freeway with a king size mattress and boxsprings in it. Right as I'm saying "that doesn't look tied down very well" the boxspring goes airborne I make an evasive maneuver but the wind blows the box spring into our path and scuffs the lower right bumper of the car. On Monday though we are driving through a contraflow area with a lot of cones and a dually on our left chips an orange traffic cone and sends it flying into out path with only enough warning that I start touching the brakes. I hit the cone at about 35-40mph at first I thought nothing of it as it's a plastic traffic cone but then I start randomly getting the pre-collision assist flashing and the car keeps attempting to break when there is noting in front of me. I pulled over to take a look and the resulting damage seems like it's going to get expensive. It smashed the panel in front of the pre-collision assist radar and broke the bracket that held the radar as well as messing up the air vanes. Local dealer called me about 30 minutes after dropping it off and told me to notify my insurer cause the repair costs were racking up but I've still to get a total estimate.
I started getting a warning that the "Pre-collision assist not available sensor blocked" as well as pre-collision randomly going off so I shut off the auto breaking feature to get it to the dealership.

Similar thing happened to me. Took a chance of truck tire to the shutters. I ordered the replacement part thinking I cold just replace it myself. Part cost was just under $800. I decided not to tackle it myself and got an estimate from a Ford dealer to remove and replace. That came in just under $600, IF, the sensors need to be recalibrated, if not then it would be $200 cheaper.

So based on my experience you are looking at $1500 +/- if nothing else is damaged.

Geez I am so sorry. It sucks when you have a string of things like that and especially on a car you likely really care for. Always in the back of my mind when considering a vehicle, do I want a 6 year old used one I don't care if it sits in a hail storm, or do I want a new one that makes me happier to drive every day but at the same time anxious because everyone around seems to be making the worst possible choices.

Hope you can get it all fixed as painlessly as possible.

So preliminary estimate provided by Honolulu Ford includes replacement of the following:
REPLACE CCM, CCM BRACKET, A/C CONDENSER, AND COMPLETE RADIATOR GRILLE SHUTTER ASSEMBLY
Parts = $2460.94
Labor = $2035
Total cost for hitting a traffic cone: taxes, shop supplies, etc. = $4760.31 o_O

I'm really starting to wish I owned a Tesla with sentry mode at this point.
According to service advisor no sign of the ordered parts yet.

These cars are rock magnets. Numerous chips on our hood, 3 big rocks have hit the car so far in 14k miles. 1 left a gash in the front bumper, 2 left big rock chips in the windshield that we had to have filled. Thankfully no big long cracks yet.

But would it help with the MME's glass chin?
Change islands dude. No issues with those things here. Nice roads, fewer cars.*

Please let's know the final resolution for this.

*None of this may be true.

Tri-coat paint is extremely thick and soft. I think it gets chipped easier that thin paints. I heard that it is hard to do a touch up work because of how thick the paint layer is.

I only see a tiny dent in the A/C condenser which won’t affect operation. I don’t think that needs to be replaced especially if the A/C was still working afterwards. Labor seems high. Dealer might be gold digging here somewhat.

Yikes!
I think that when I finally get my MME, I will just stay windward side! :)
Do you have recommendations on which dealer seems to have the strongest service department, specific to supporting the MME with routine needs?

Would you guys kindly not take your MME's to Honolulu Ford? My front screen (the one that tells you how fast you're going, among other important information) is totally black at this point and I need to bring it to them for the second time. They told me they only have one technician who can work on MMEs. They had it for a few days the first time but I figure this time might be 2-3 weeks. So, you know, in the interests of me getting my vehicle back sooner, I'd like it if the one guy allowed to work on this car at the largest Ford dealership on island can focus on mine ?

(I'm joking, but proverbial tears are streaming down my face as I type it because it seems like such a ridiculous scenario...)

On the bright side, between the few of us having issues, I guess this guy is going to become one of the most experienced MME techs in the country.

And... I have a dash cam sitting in its box, had it installed in all my cars previously but hadn't gotten to putting it into the MME yet. Usually I just come across boxes and bags on our highways but you've had some nightmare scenarios, once I get my MME back I'll be installing that dash cam for sure.

Wife bought a touch up kit before the accident and I was doing 5-6 coats and would still have a small divot in the middle of the chip hole.
