On several occasions, I have been backing out of my garage and the car suddenly - and I mean suddenly - stops and the Brake Assist warning comes on. There is nothing behind me. I'm not even out of the driveway yet. Anyone have this issue?

My car used to do this on steep driveways. I thought the sharp angle where the driveway meets the street made the car think I was backing into a concrete wall or something.
It doesn’t do it any longer, maybe something changed in an update? Even on the same driveways where it used to do it 100% of the time.

Several on the Forum (including me) have experienced this. I turned mine off since it happened often enough to be annoying while at the same time, I'm very careful when reversing. ???

My Emergency braking program is on crack!! I do not like it or appreciate the current algorithm. I'm damn sure Tesla has a far better program, but I realize there are tech differences between data sensors, cameras vs. lidar, etc....

I tire of turning it of EVERY single ignition cycle and assume it may eventually save me from running into the back of someone, but the irritating and startling emergency braking most often for NO reasonable factors I can comprehend is pissing me off and souring me on FORD! I take into account the speed, braking force, downward nose force, distance, and at times there is nothing in front of the car for 20 feet. The programming is far far less than ideal.

Devon, are you talking about the Pre-Collision Assist or the Reverse Braking Assist? If the former, then so you have a non-standard license plate mount? If so, that could be the cause of the problems you're experiencing.

Correct - this thread is about reverse braking assist. If you turn it off, it stays off.
We shouldn’t mix pre-collision in the same discussion. ?

Pre-Collision is only forwards, not backwards.

We were visiting friends a few months ago, and they had a bunch of weeds / flowers growing tall in a corner of the driveway. I backed up, and the brakes slammed down, and scared the crap out of me. I was sure I hit something.

I always have Reverse Brake Assist turned on, and I back out of my garage every day. This has never happened to me.

As I mentioned previously, my job 1 car that used to do this routinely no longer does It at all.

This saved me from backing into a car when curb parking last night. No car in front so I didn't use parallel park assist. Or could I have still used it.

Anyway, whew.

This happened to me once backing into my garage. I still back into the garage to this day, one of the tips I got here because of the HVB and if need to tow.

Never happened again.
