Hi All, just joined the group.
My 2022 GT has been at the dealer 3 weeks for a brake booster failure. My wife was driving it and it completely failed. Luckily she wasn’t going fast, as she said the brake pedal wouldn’t even depress and the car could barely stop. Had it towed to dealer on Oct 6th. Car has 29k miles.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Curious how common this is…

Gonna need a lot more info, as there is no "brake booster" in the conventional/ICE sense on an MME.

What do you mean? There’s a brake booster all the same, it’s just electronically driven. That’s like saying there’s no A/C in the conventional/ICE sense.

ABS hydraulic control unit is how I refer to it, the term booster isn’t really the best way to describe its function.

I should also mention there is a failsafe in the event of power loss, but you will have to press the pedal with 100+ pounds of force to stop the vehicle. So press HARD, two feet if necessary. Pretend its the leg press at the gym.

First time I have ever heard of a brake booster in an ICE or an EV. The way you describe it it sounds like you are left with standard braking no power/hydraulic brakes correct? Like stopping an ICE when the engine dies?

The old emergency brake pedal holding its release leveler and pumping them had its place for those of us that drove old. Blew a hydraulic brake line once and mechanical pumping the emergency got me to where it could be fixed. Don't do that at home ;)

If 12V goes out you lose power brakes and power steering. Unassisted mechanical failsafe remains.

You need some muscles to operate those on the ones I have driven and it happens. No alternator light and it runs off the 12V for awhile?

Something with the power supply?

Is that what happened here the 12V cut out or something with the hydraulics?

This was something with hydraulics I believe. Not sure. Dealer still has it. Closing in on a month without the car.

Well it looks like the booster may not be the issue. The dealer has thrown multiple parts at the issue and it’s still not fixed. They’ve reached out to @Ford Motor Company
I’ve also opened a case with Ford. No real support yet. Disappointed to not have my car for over a month.

interesting. When I brought my MME in recently because of the HVBJB failure, they also said that the brake wire harness also needed replacing. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
