The cellphone wireless charger in my car stinks and has always been that way since I got it. Is mine defective or does everyone else's wireless charger stink as bad as mine?

Two main issues with my charger:

It sucks at charging. It charges so slow that I barely even use it anymore and just use a wired charger into the USB ports.

It overheats my phone. At first, I didn't mind this as I know wireless chargers can get a phone very hot. A week ago my phone shut itself off and gave me an error message for overheating. This was made worse that I was using google maps via my phone to get to my destination.

I love my dealership but I feel like bringing this to their attention would just get me shoulder shrugs because I have a strong hunch they wouldn't be able to fix it or take this issue seriously.

This is exactly how my wireless charger behaves. When it did work in the beginning, it barely gave my phone any charge. Now (I think it's my phone) it doesn't work at all for my phone. My wife's phone does wireless charge on the pad but adding very little charge during the drive. If I plug my phone into the outlets, I get fast charging which is way better. Unfortunately I agree, I don't think the dealerships will care about the issue.

Yeah, my iPhone X gets pretty warm and it charges slow. Some people have battery discharge issues when using Wireless CarPlay (i.e. the charger charges so slow that the phone uses more juice to run CarPlay than it receives from the charger). My phone seems to charge or at least stay at its current SoC even when I am using Wireless CarPlay. It’s just a crappy charger. ?‍♂??

my phone gets hot on both my Mach e and civic. I think it's because of android auto, not wireless charger.

My Pixel 4XL gets very hot on the wireless charger if AA is running Waze or Google maps, and usually only slows the phone battery drain as opposed to actually charging it. So you're not alone. I did notice if I take the case off the phone and/or not running any GPS apps it seems to do better and actually charges the phone.

They're making strides with wireless charging, but it does get hot and is slower than USB charging. I don't notice my battery decreasing when using CarPlay. The big thing to remember, since it is on a charger, if you rest it on the charger with the screen unlocked, it may NOT auto lock, especially if you opened a music app or navigation. You have to manually lock it. Might need to check your phone's battery health if it is losing charge while on the charger and not being used with the screen on, just CarPlay.

Hi there! I can look into your Mach-E's charging pad concerns on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mach-E's VIN?

My dealer said that the TSB 22-2141 for cars built after 9-30 will not work on my earlier build even though it sounds exactly like the issue we are all having. Seems to be Iphone 12 and 13's inn particular. I have asked them to discuss with ford. if anyone else has found a solution please advise.

My outreach to the Ford rep in this thread turned out to be useless. Nice person but after forwarding me to a concierge person - that person wanted to send me to my dealer. The classic Do-Loop with no solution.

Nothing can really be done. My car is a November 2021 build and has the part number referenced in the TSB, so should have the updated available but does not. When you dive into it, my car has a few different modules or something that differ very slightly, even though the main one is match, which is all that is referenced to check in the TSB. It really does suck, as my car has this issue with the slightest movement of my phone, charging stops.
