Thanks, Bruce! What’s the difference between the two wires?
If you connect just the yellow and leave the red disconnected, the pony will work with headlights. If you connect red to red and leave the yellow disconnected, it should work with RDLs. If the pony doesn’t light up, you’ll need to try the final method. You can find all of this on the Ultimate Instructions page by scanning the QR code on your warranty card.

Thanks, Bruce! Super helpful. Never got a warranty card with my Ultimate. Just went based off the V3 install. Thank again!

I got mine installed and it looks great. The soft start for the LEDs is really smooth and looks great. Make sure you use the new wire harnesses.

I installed mine yesterday. Probably the best mod I've done to date. I've never taken my frunk out before but I watched the video and it was an easy install. The video link was very helpful even though it was for the v3 pony. Because my Mach e is a 2022 the screws for the frunk were different but easy to find under the covers. The surge protection box and wire length is different too and I took a picture of where I placed it and tied it up in case someone else might find it useful.

It's right next to the passenger side headlight and fits perfectly in the space there to the left.

The pony looks great and I couldn't be happier with the support I received from BSKT when I had questions.

@lanebk I stuck my box in that slit too. It fits just perfect and didn't need to be zip tied or anything. Also, I went with the yellow wire instead of the red wire. Am I to understand if using the red wire, the pony is always on? Is that what you see with your set up?

Connecting the red wires only works on some models and years, mainly the earlier ones and pretty much most of the European models. Most people do connect the yellow wires and just have the pony light up with the headlights. If you really want to have the pony light up anytime the DRL's are on and connecting the red wires on your model does not do this, you need to run the supplied long red wire into the passenger compartment and tap into a particular wire which also tends to be different with various models. Most use the same wire but I have seen a couple of others that didn't. There will be one or two members on here that are going to determine what wire it is. Normally that is something I would do but I have a little to much going on right now working on suspensions to mess around with that. 😊

Hey fellow Mach E Lovers.
as promised, it’s finally here! 🙌

I had a few personal things I needed to take care of first, but everything is sorted now ✅ and I’ve been able to sit down and record the tutorial today 🎥🔥

I’m really excited to share this one with you, I genuinely think you’re going to love it 😍 The ULTIMATE version looks absolutely incredible 💡🐎✨ and really brings the whole setup to life in a way that’s hard to describe until you see it yourself.

This is a light-up pony for the Mustang Machine E Ultimate Edition, and it adds such a unique and eye-catching touch ⚡🚗 It’s one of those mods that just makes people stop and go “wow” 🤩

I put a lot of effort into making the tutorial easy to follow step by step, so whether you’re experienced or just getting started, you should be able to jump right in, I’ll also included the DRL connection issue in US at the end of the video, so you can follow this torturial and get it working no problem 🛠💪

Let me know what you think once you’ve watched it I’d love to hear your feedback 💬👇 and see your own versions if you try it out!

🎬 Check out the full video below!

USA Video Update (04/20/2026)
Hello fellow Mach-E members Jannick here with a brief clarification regarding US models:

On some USA Mach-E vehicles, connecting red to red may not activate the Ultimate lighting. This is expected behavior and varies between vehicles. In contrast, this function operates normally on EU, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and China models.

If your lighting does not activate, please note the following:
Do not use the long red wire (as shown in the video) to tap into the orange/green wire, it can potentially fry the pony.

On USA models, this connection does not control the DRLs, it only triggers the welcome lights and eventually risk of frying the pony.

Correct wiring setup for USA models:
  • Connect yellow to yellow
  • Connect black to black
  • Disconnect the red wire
With this configuration, the pony lighting will activate together with your headlights as intended.

I’ll repeat DO NOT CONNECT RED TO RED OR LONG RED WIRE TO ORANGE / GREEN IT WILL Potentially KILL YOUR Light up pony ultimate edition .

Thank you.

I find this very confusing. You show how to connect the pony to the DRLs in the video, then you say it may not work, then you warn not to do it at all?

Sorry about that Rick. The DRL’s are for early US Mach-E’s and European models. Only the yellow wires should be connected for the US ponies.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your message , I understand the confusion.

The video demonstrates how the pony light can be connected to the DRLs, as this is a common approach some users take. However, due to variations in vehicle wiring, control modules, and regional configurations, we can’t guarantee that this method will work consistently across all setups. We have also seen some ponies dying from this and that would be sad to see more go.

That’s why we also include a caution, in some cases, tapping into the DRL circuit may lead to unexpected behavior, error messages, or even potential issues with the vehicle’s electrical system. For that reason, we generally advise against it unless you’re confident in the wiring and understand the risks involved.

In short the video shows a possible method, but the recommendation is to proceed carefully or avoid it altogether if you’re unsure, since afterwards we have seen that wiring from model to model and country to country isn’t the same.
Just to be safe for now you should go with the headlight only option for now.

black to black
Yellow to yellow

as an example the red to red and black to black on my vehicle still holds up no issues at all. So it is a bit odd .

we will keep montering the wiring constantly and come up with a solution in the future.

Best regards
Jannick

Hello fellow Mach E Members

After an incredible journey working on the Rear Light Up Pony Ultimate Edition for the Mustang Mach-E, I’m proud to share that I’ve now completed what will be my final update on this project. Alongside the product itself, I’ve developed a comprehensive installation guide to make the process as clear, accessible, and seamless as possible for anyone looking to bring this upgrade to life on their own vehicle.

This project has been a true reflection of what BSKT Design stands for. attention to detail, innovation, and a passion for elevating both aesthetics and user experience. From the early stages of concept and prototyping through to refinement and real-world application, every step has been focused on delivering a product that not only enhances the visual identity of the Mustang Mach-E but also integrates cleanly and reliably.

The Ultimate Edition rear light up pony is designed to stand out without compromising the original design language of the vehicle. Achieving that balance required careful consideration of lighting intensity, fitment precision, wiring integration, and overall durability. The result is a subtle yet striking enhancement that feels like it truly belongs OEM style.

To support this, the installation guide walks through the entire process in detail, covering preparation, step by step fitting, and key tips to ensure a smooth install. Whether you’re experienced or tackling a project like this for the first time, the goal has been to remove uncertainty and make the experience as straightforward as possible.

This marks the closing chapter for this particular build, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with how it has turned out. The video below captures the final result and highlights what this upgrade brings to the vehicle

With this now complete, my focus shifts fully toward new and exciting projects at BSKT Design. There’s a lot in the pipeline, and I’m genuinely excited about what’s coming nextcontinuing to push ideas forward, explore new concepts, and deliver products that stand out.

As always, thank you to everyone who has followed along, shared feedback, and supported the journey. More to come very soon.
