Finally got around to taking photos of my painted calipers. Grabber Blue compliments Glacier Gray better than the red and is more subtle which mainly what I was after. Didn't mind the red on my Iconic Silver but just didn't sit well with me on Glacier Gray.

Looks great, Mark! What color calipers do you think would look good with black gloss wheels and Dark Matter Gray paint?

Beings your car is dark gray (just about black) and black wheels, you can go with any color. I don't think there is a color that would look bad with your car. Just depends on how bright you want to go. A darker blue would look good otherwise Grabber blue like my calipers or Red would stand out a lot more.

In another thread (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/glacier-gray-mach-e-club.38312/page-9#post-989959) we got to talking about caliper colors and then caliper covers so thought I would move that discussion over here to my caliper thread.

Dave (dalola) wanted to know about painted caliper covers and how much space they take up. So here is the thing, EV-Vida sells AOOA caliper covers in all different colors but they are not available for the GT with the larger performance front brakes. Therefore I could not use their cover on my front brakes but I was able to cover the rear caliper since they are the same on all Mach-E's. The cover took up 1/4" of space. They are very high quality covers, all steel with stainless hardware and a great paint job. I have aftermarket wheels so have plenty of space between the backside of the wheel and the calipers but maybe some of the OEM wheels do not have a lot of space. You would need at least 1/4" more space than you have now to fit these covers.

You can easily apply Brembo decals on the covers in both black or white lettering.

My Grabber Blue painted larger GT performance front calipers with the AOOA light blue front caliper resting on the rotor. It would be nice if AOOA made covers for the GT performance front brakes that way would be much easier and cheaper for one to change color on a GT performance.

There are times I really miss living in the civilized world. If I was still in NorCal, I'd have had these done on my 21 Infinite blue years ago. It'd just be a question of color and not, "Why is Hawaii still operating in the 1950s?" ;)

It's a beautiful place to wake up to each morning. I would not complain (I know you're not). ?

Oh I’m very much complaining — about that anyway. But overall? No. Cause …

6 am Monday morning with upslope fog rolling in. View from the back deck facing west towards the coast and the south(ish) toward Hualalai and the Kona area in the far distance in the lower picture.

STOP!!

For years I would travel several times a year to the islands then after buying a condo on Kauai and one on Maui, now I rarely go (like only once every 3 years or so). Still one of my favorite places besides Italy. ?

Thanks Mark! Everything I've been able to decipher from the aftermarket covers, they all require a ~10mm spacer on the front (non-GT) w/OEM wheels. There is maybe 5mm or less clearance on our P4X, in stock trim.

I thought I remembered there being very little space back there on the OEM wheels. ?

Mark, thank you for this. This looks like a great alternative for non-GT Machs. However, I'm not sure about the fitment for the front caliper (the rear has plenty of room). You said it takes up about a 1/4" of space. The front caliper on my Premium OEM wheel is really snug. There could be maybe a hair more than a 1/4" of space. Were you able to do a fitment on the front wheels of another member with this OEM wheel?:

I have not tried the front caliper cover fitment on a premium wheel such as yours but this Friday I have a member with a CR1 that will be here and I can try it on their wheels. I don't think we should use that as a gauge though since the wheels are different on the CR1.

All the covers I researched require a ~10mm wheel spacer for the front, for non-GT & OEM wheels.

Great, thanks Mark. Will be curious what you find out for an OEM wheel even if it's not exactly like the Prem.
