FordPass can show you places that are Ford-authorized collision centers. And yea, you’re looking at upwards of $1,200, assuming the sensor isn’t affected. More if the wheel or suspension got bent.
I’d get his insurance info either way.

I'm thinking more like $3K - hopefully not.
Plain sucks that it happened

Firstly, I’d advise you have a 4-wheel alignment check (and adjustment/s if possible) done to ensure the impact didn’t damage the steering and/or suspension before I did anything else.

Then off to a really good, preferable Ford, bodyshop with it for an estimate.

Hope it’s not too problematic for you.

Nope. No way would I try to do this without insurance. If he balks at the cost, and refuses to pay the full amount, that will be way too much of a hassle.

What he is probably saying - he doesn't have insurance or will lose his license/insurance with another accident

I sure hope you got his reg and license info - pics of the docs are best to make sure he doesn't give you fake data.

The problem with him paying an estimate (assuming he would) for the body work is the appraiser/estimater cannot price in anything thery cannot see. so the original estimate might be $3k (which accident dude might pay??) and then they find hidden damage - bent btackets and braces they couldn't see until disassembly. Accident dude will be long gone by then.

I MIGHT let him settle up with the body shop only if he is jumping through hoops to get it done. Otherwise file with your insurance company and let them deal with it. A police report will help.

I did bypass insurance once when a high school kid hit me and his father stepped in to resolve it quickly. I knew dad from around town and the deal got done easily. But I think that was 1 in a million.

Good luck

His preferences don’t matter. Only yours do. Zero chance I’d accept that. It’s an immediate police report. And probably a drunk driving charge.

I would be careful on this. I had an accident last September, same type of front end damage. First estimate of damages was $1,800. Final bill was @$23,000.

Don't take his word for it. Involve your insurance company. It's always more expensive than it looks, some underlying parts, clips, etc. And you want it fixed with actual Ford parts, not some substitute thing. When someone says they want to pay for it off the books, it inevitably puts pricing pressure on you to keep the cost low. And then they start to whine about how much it's costing. And then they get amnesia. And then it turns ugly. In the US, you're encouraged not to involve police if there ae no injuries, but the flip side is that if you don't get a police report that says it's not your fault, and the claim devolves into a dispute, your insurance will end up paying, and you'll foot the bill for increased rates.

New wheel arch trim and repainting of the bumper. Should be about £ 1000. Serms like a very low inpact so alingment should be ok.
