CarPlay - No Audio

Recently, when I start the car and CarPlay connects, there is no sound. It gets fixed if I reboot sync. But it is happening almost every other time. Kinda of annoying.

Try hardwiring it before rebooting it. Try the car radio before rebooting it. Try a different source to try to figure out if it is no audio from the car or no stream from the phone.

I have the same issue occasionally. I found out if you swipe down to get to the control panel on the phone and turn off the WiFi a pop up says disconnect from CarPlay. Disconnect. Turn the WiFi back on then hit the CarPlay button on the dash. It reconnects and the sound comes back. Annoying but it works.

You can disconnect the phone from sync and reconnect and it works as well. That way if you are in a hands free state you are not running the risk of a ticket.

I hear ya but it’s always when it first connects when I first start the car so I’m parked.

Same here. CarPlay sound goes out a little too frequently. I turn off the iPhone, then turn it back on...yes, while driving, and it turns the sound back on every time.

No when in doubt reboot. He mentioned it was a pain rebooting all the time so may as well figure out if it is the car or the phone to start to troubleshoot it. Not really any major problems here lately with carplay.

It also happens if I’m originally listening to the radio and a phone call comes in, and it’s in this screwed up mode.

Yes, this is happening more frequently. Easiest fix I’ve found is to tap settings (in sync), tap on phones, tap on the phone name, and you’ll see options for Bluetooth and CP. Switch to Bluetooth, then switch back to CarPlay.

If anyone knows a faster fix than this, lemme know. Beats resetting sync.

No audio from the phone at first connect but the radio plays fine? Try plugging it to see if it is any better. Sounds like just a phone to car problem and not a car audio problem in general.

Only problem I have had is carplay locks on the screen after steaming tunes for a couple of hours. The music keeps playing but the screen is nonresponsive. Album art does not change but the song does. I have not had the no audio bug but I'm only on 6.4 right now.

I have been having the same issue for about 4 months. For me, it helps to switch to radio in the car and stay on that panel, which will cause CarPlay to disconnect and reconnect with functioning sound. It's an incredibly annoying bug though, I hope Ford knows about it and is looking at addressing it in a future update.
