CarPlay not working after iOS 26 Beta update

Not sure why the jump from 18 to 26.

They are moving to having the year be the release number i.e, this is the 2026 version of the OS. All Apple software will move to this pattern.

Ok. Everyone else already said that. I'll just add that I'm running the public beta on my 15Pro and not having anything other than minor niggles.

Hi @RmP , I’m in the developer program and have both IOS 16 and iOS 26.0 (23A5336a), I haven’t had any issues with the Public Beta, have you rebooted your phone & Sync, tried removing and reconnecting your phone and PAAK?

Yes and it doesn’t fix the issue. This is an Apple issue. I can’t connect CarPlay to my wife’s Audi now or my neighbors’s car either.

No major issues with the beta so far. Sometimes a little slow to connect and once in a while I have to choose my phone as a CarPlay device.

It’s a beta version that’s about to be rolled out at this week’s big Apple event. Not sure why the jump from 18 to 26. I think the best thing is wait for a patch to roll out from Apple or the public release then Ford will have to react to it assuming it’s on their end

Apple is renaming all the OS to align with the year like what Samsung is doing. 26 because of the year 2026.

Interesting that it broke your CarPlay altogether, it sounds like. I am running iOS 26.0 (23A5336a), and I DID have my first CarPlay issue after it installed. But I removed the phone from the MME's CarPlay on the center screen, removed the car from my phone's CarPlay, rebooted the phone, and re-paired the CarPlay, and all is well again.

But it sounds like you might have something else going on, if you can't pair with multiple cars...

Yes, unfortunately. I’ve removed, re-paired both wireless and via USB multiple times but nothing works. Pretty sucky. The Apple event is tomorrow and historically they roll out a public iOS around 2 weeks later. Just wait it out I guess

Were you able to get it to connect a subsequent time with VPN on? I use a VPN also, and don’t want to have to turn it off for CarPlay. Thanks.

I have AT&T ActiveArmor Mobile Security VPN on using the app and have no issues connecting.

Well it has never let me connect when my Nord VPN is on

Just been out the garage for first trip on CarPlay with iOS 26 and I like it, I like it, I like it

Map area seem larger, possibly because CarPlay icons are smaller & transparent, text and graphics are smaller, generally tidier.

All in all, it’s a from me for what it’s worth which probably don’t amount to that much

I Use Nord as my VPN and have never been able to connect to CarPlay when it’s on.
