Yes they do. Both Lightnings and Mach-e’s in fact. What makes you think Ford’s engineers made this decision though?
Executive decision. "We need to slash costs anyway possible, let's lay off engineers and sunset everything that is not directly revenue generating"

My car has been awesome on trips, but now seems like it will get worse.

When I took delivery in early 2022 I could plan a route fully from my phone, then send it to car. It was awesome, plan your trip at night from home, send to car and away we go. They took that feature away.

Then we got public charging (I got this very early in EAP) and we use it all the time on trips, my wife and I have no other apps, no accounts, we just activate the charger from in car. My wife uses it by herself alot, and has never really used the Ford Pass app. But now it looks like this is going away.

Lets break this trend or taking away features from our working cars......
Yeah I loved the trip planner on the Ford app, it would allow me to test different routes and destinations then send it to the car, that was so convenient, I could never understand why they would remove it. The whole backend was already built to add itnto the updated Ford app should have been easy.

Maybe everyone who's paid for BC and Connected Services should go on the Record Feedback app and do their best Howard Beale impersonation.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Changes coming to Public Charging app mad-angry

"I know that this is vitriol; no solution, spleen-venting. But I feel better having screamed. Don't you?"

While I generally agree with the various observations and share the frustrations, FWIT, Ford isn’t the only one that makes changes that seem bass akwards to users. Acura eliminated the ability to create a map in the owner portal on a PC or Mac and then send it to the car where it would be cued up in the Navi ready to roll. I know this from first hand experience with the ‘20 RDX I had. I know the tech and interfaces have changed. My point is simply that Ford is not in a league of one when it comes to making changes that are not user friendly.

I just want to confirm something here… There is now no way to start a charge at a public charger from the car?

Also no way to see how many chargers at a location are in use?

I don’t understand. Why remove these features that require no development time to keep running?

I've never once used the Public Charging app and stay in Android Auto at all times when driving, but I feel bad for people who rely on other options. Seems like a bad idea to take away things. At least we have the best implementation of Android Auto though!

Fordpass is the remaining option to start a charge and have it be billed to BOCN. You can see charger availability in connected nav under charger details (but not superchargers for pre-2025).

I wonder how much ongoing cost factored into the decision. There must have been some cost to maintain the server endpoint as well as the cost of the vehicle cellular connection. Maybe they considered moving it under the premium connectivity umbrella but decided against it.

So I got an OTA last week that made a big deal about an update to Public Charging that it could be used while driving …. Only to have it disabled the next week … WTF!?!

They had to free up in-vehicle resources for the soon to debut Super-Karaoke!

Since when do they call it the "Model e"? :sneaky:
Since the Model e Division was set up within Ford around 2019. It was already in place when the Mustang Mach E announcement was made.
