I was literally in the process of looking for a charger on the navi Wednesday morning when the change occurred. I couldn't understand why the charger I had just searched for disappeared.

Yeah, not sure this is going to help me out. HOWEVER, if @Ford Motor Company would just update the Nav database in the car to include all of the chargers, including Tesla, that are in the Public Charging app, that might help A LOT.
That’s too much like right for ford!!!

The problem is that for Ford models prior to 2025, you need to pay for connected services in order to see the eligible Tesla superchargers in the nav.
No, the problem is that for Ford models prior to 2025, even if you pay for the Connected Navigation it still doesn’t see the eligible Tesla Superchargers.

Boooo.....

I (used to) use the app all the time. Never activated a charger, but I used it quite a bit.

This just doesn’t make any sense. I can see if they actually had the internal navigation updated with Tesla and other chargers but they don’t have that. They should upgrade the existing navigation app to add this and the ability to activate chargers. Maybe this would encourage people, like myself, to pay for the navigation plan. Currently there is zero reason to pay for this unless you want battery pre-conditioning (still mad that this is effectively pay walled if you don’t have android auto)

This change affects me on a quite serious level, I do not have a data plan for my cell phone, and quite frankly should not need one to activate a charger, having the option through the car has always worked and been amazing, taking it away is a HUGE miss on Fords part in my eyes.

Exactly. I have a data plan for my phone, but don't think I should need one to drive my car.

I see you're in Alberta. Make sure you get a FLO RFID card, then you can activate the FLO chargers which are numerous and reliable. If Plug-n-charge works for Tesla, and you have your Flo card, you should be mostly ok in Alberta and BC. I think the FLO RFID card even works with Shell Recharge (but I haven't tried it.)

So, today, while I was driving, I was explaining to my wife about the Public Charging app being disabled (she wasn’t really interested). So, while driving, I pulled up the app expecting it to not work. Well surprise, it loaded up and allowed its use while driving which was something it has never done before. Previously, it always gave me “some functions are unavailable while driving.” So, not only did I not get cancelled, I got the “now works while driving” update. Go figure.

I think the finding a charger part has been improved.

Not being able to activate that charger once I get there is the big issue.

That's the functionality I don't care about since I get better rates using the charger's app as a member. But not finding the chargers and then programming the route into the on-board nav system is a huge issue for me. Now maybe if the Blue Oval Network offered the same rates as the membership I'd think it was more important...

Here’s a bit of a Rube Goldberg solution: you could pay for Connected Services (or whatever it’s called) from Ford to activate the hotspot in the vehicle, then tether your phone to it. That way you don’t need a data plan on your phone.

Are you proposing that the Blue Oval Network offer a paid tier that would essentially provide members access to the various lower rates? How would that be priced? Aren’t there several different networks in Blue Oval?
