I don't usually like Youtube Rants but this guy is spot on. Ford is really dropping to ball on navigation and charging.

Yawn. A truck owner whining about truck crap. This is in the wrong forum.

Are you proposing that the Blue Oval Network offer a paid tier that would essentially provide members access to the various lower rates? How would that be priced? Aren’t there several different networks in Blue Oval?
Precisely. What I'd like is either for Blue Oval to recognize and allow log in to existing subscriptions for services like EA and Tesla, or to offer users an option to create accounts through FordPass for those at the same or near the same monthly costs. Until then, I will continue to use the EA app for EA payments and the Tesla app for Tesla Supercharger payments because I pay for subscriptions to those.

Assuming the Nav will help me find them, of course. :)

Actually, I think the idea of pass-through authentication is great. I doubt they’ll do it though because remember they likely monetize a lot of data they collect about you through their apps. Passthrough authentication would lose them access to all that valuable data.

So for those who were using the PC app to find chargers, I assume that was for locating superchargers. Alternatives would then be Google maps with AA (with preconditioning), carplay/apple maps (no preconditioning), or map the route in advance using ABRP and enter the supercharger addresses into the native nav manually (no preconditioning). Am I missing any options?

I believe Apple Maps does preconditioning, but I’m not sure.

It doesn't yet due to privacy concerns. Apple doesn't want to pass along exact location to third parties. If Ford would just accept something like an ETA to a destination and that the destination type was a DCFC, then Apple could probably aet the car to precondition. ?‍♂?

That's the functionality I don't care about since I get better rates using the charger's app as a member. But not finding the chargers and then programming the route into the on-board nav system is a huge issue for me. Now maybe if the Blue Oval Network offered the same rates as the membership I'd think it was more important...
This is the thing I am confused by.
Looking at the original post, it appears that Finding Chargers is still working through the In-Vehicle Public Charging app. If that Find Chargers button leads to a search in the In-Vehicle Navigation app, I think that is still a reasonable action. (It does mean there is no real reason for the Public Charging app at that point, which might be where this is ultimately going.)

There are multiple methogs for finding chargers. My concern is removing a method for activating them. As I stated earlier, I had a situation where my phone was not able to activate the charger with either the FordPass or the vendor app. I was still able to get a charge because I was able to activate the charge through the In-Vehicle app.

Options are good things to have, and losing one that I have needed in the past is disappointing.

This is no longer happening in older cars. The "Public Charging" app in my 2021 used to function as expected including Tesla Superchargers and adding routes to the Nav system. Now it is dead. The Nav system does not locate Tesla chargers. This is unacceptable and is what I've been complaining about.

Does it still work in FordPass for you? (Other than sending a destination to the car.)

Removing the Public Charging app from the in-car screen without first adding the Tesla Supercharger Network to the Navigation system is an extremely short-sighted and bone-headed move if you ask me.
Bone-Headed is an understatement. Do Ford engineers drive ev's?

From Ford:

Based on how owners are charging on the go, we are enhancing the FordPass app experience and turning off the in-vehicle Charge Assist/Public Charging app starting today.

How you can find, activate, and pay for a charger.

· FordPass App – your FordPass app is the easiest and quickest way to locate, activate and pay for charging at all 14 BlueOval Charge Network partner networks.
Interesting that "navigate" is conspicuously missing from this announcement. The in-vehicle Public Charging app was the only way to locate compatible Tesla SCs, which at least you could then save and use in the navi. Ford has taken us a step back to searching for SC locations somewhere else and entering the address to navigate to them. Brilliant.

You can use the Ford Pass app to find them, then send them to navigate in Google maps, etc. However, you can't send them to Ford Connected Navigation.

Dumb!
