@Ford Motor Company

Batteries should not be charged to 100% on a daily basis. A app / car feature that stops charging at X % would be welcomed. Should be low hanging fruit to create this capability.

Huh? It has always been there (it may have bugs, but it's there).

LFP batteries can be charged to 100 daily. But yes, the NCM batteries should not be charged to 100 daily if you want a long battery life.

Low hanging enough that it already exists in both the app and the car? That low?

Maybe the setting location isn't obvious? In the app you'll need to go to the Vehicle tab, then look for Preferred Times under the Charging section. Save one of your Previous Locations and customize the preferred charge settings.

Why do I need to set a preferred time? That's crazy. Just have it available ALL THE TIME. so be common place to not have to schedule a preferred time. What if I'm not charging at a preferred time?

Why can't just be go to charging and set X %?

It's not useful hidden or required to make a preferred time.

The preferred time option is to save you money by charging off-peak. You can skip that, say "anytime" and limit the charge to a lower %.

I think what the OP is getting at is that the (DEFAULT) behavior is to always charge to 100%, (unless) you define a preferred charge time (that is location based), meaning if I plug into my friends charger at his house, it will charge to 100% (unless) I save that location, and then tell it not to.

If I plug into a level 2 charger at the mall, and spend the day shopping, the car will default to charging to 100% (unless) I save that location as well, and then tell it not to.

What's missing, and what i think the OP and many of us have been asking for many years now, is a simple slider in the battery page that allows us to specify the (default) charge limit regardless of location.

The current logic is silly, and a nuisance because it requires user intervention by the user, anytime they are trying to protect their battery. The more logical thing to do (which virtually every other EV does) is have 1 user defined setting that defines the default behavior. As a conservative company that is always trying to prevent warranty work, and failure, i am absolutely mind blown that we are several model years in already and the (default) behavior (programmed by Ford) is to always charge to 100% unless the user intervenes. Which is insane particularly when Ford tells you to use 90% for daily use... yet the (default) behavior is always 100%.

You don't really have to set a time. If you set it from 12am to 12am it will just be "anytime".

Setting preferred times can be helpful though - even at home. I've read recommendations to let the battery cool down before charging for optimal life. So if I drive home from work and plug it in at 530, I don't necessarily want it to start charging immediately if I don't need it to. So I set a preferred time to start at 8pm or 10pm.

You'd also want to consult your local utility provider to see if they have discounted off-peak rates - and this is where you'd schedule your charging to take advantage of that. PLENTY of reasons to set some sort of schedule for your charging - or, like I said, don't. Just set it to "anytime" and let it charge up to your set limit whenever.

Since the OP is new I’ll help out a bit. I think what the OP should complain about is the fact that we need to set the charge limit based on location. And can’t set a global one. This is the first EV I’ve had that requires this.

New here. Not to EVs. Own a Tesla and a Mach E. There are a few things that are not headaches in the Tesla. This is one of them. Sure, many work arounds to my request. However, it shouldn't be a work around. Should just be able to set it.

. Bottom line is. Update the tech. Love my Mach E. It's just falling short on the tech in a few places

It’s interesting that Ford implemented this in the Lightning, but have not (yet) ported it back to the Mach-E.

In other electric cars you can do it by session. So if say you plug in at your hotel, level 2, and you are charging overnight, you don't want to charge to 100%; on your charging screen you can set it to stop at a certain percentage that you choose. So you can have it stop at 90% if you want or 80%, whatever you want.
