I agree. If you're staying overnight DCFC seems like overkill. A hotel having a charger would influence my decision, but it doesn't need to be L3.I look for L2 chargers.
Yup. I was going to say. At a hotel, a level 2 is sufficient and I'd prefer that so I could charge overnight.I look for L2 chargers.
Hey Forum-mates,
This came up in a conversation and I'd like to get as many impressions as possible.
I appreciate your vote!
I wonder how the relationship typically works for charging stations at hotels.Do hotels make you pay for charging?
Does it change your mind if there is a time limit and idling fee?I agree. If you're staying overnight DCFC seems like overkill. A hotel having a charger would influence my decision, but it doesn't need to be L3.
It wouldn't change my mind, as it would make sense. One shouldn't hog a DCFC charger overnight; park there for an hour and move it so someone else can charge.Does it change your mind if there is a time limit and idling fee?
Agreed, there needs to be an L2 option as well. The only problem with hotel L2's (at least from reviews I've read) is that hotels stupidly put them in prime spots and don't enforce the "EV's only" rule - which leads to no one using them and the hotel drawing the wrong conclusion that there is no demand for them. The percentage of hotels with DCFC stations is miniscule. The poll would mean a lot more if you change it to Level 2.
That's why for our big vacation drive to florida I tried to pick hotels with an L2 charger, but that were also near a DCFC charger as well: if the L2 is unblocked I'll use that, otherwise I'll hit the DCFC...No Ford network charger closer than 38 miles.
