Yes, I understand. Sorry for the confusion. I was told I could use the 30amp with a 14-50 plug. After watching a few videos and looking through the Mach E forum, that might not be the best option.

As others have pointed out, the Ford Mobile Charger comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug, so it needs to go into a NEMA 14-50 outlet. A NEMA 14-50 outlet needs to have wire rated for 50 A. That doesn't mean that what plugs into it needs to pull the max current. The Ford Mobile Charger only pulls 32 A. So you need a NEMA 14-50 outlet to physically plug it in, but it will only pull 32 A.Awesome. Thank you! Am I missing something with the attached photo. Actually, code allows you to put a NEMA 14-50 on a 40A circuit (40A breaker and wire rated for 40A such as #8-3 romex). 30A is not allowed for a 14-50, however.
Only on a technicality because there are no 40 A receptacles and certainly not good practice, so I would never recommend it. If you're installing an outlet rated for 50 A it should be supplied with 50 A wire. What happens if someone who's expecting it to be 50 A uses it as such?
It is allowed by electrical code, and actually fairly common. Label the outlet as I did.
No, a bad option. It'll blow your breaker every time you charge. You'll be putting a 32A load on a 30A circuit.
