That first quote is why you’re getting the responses that lead to that second quote.
Fairy nuff. I tend to leave it open with maps on it, just because the nav takes me down small back roads more than I like.

If you connect to android auto, you can use google maps on the main infotainment screen.

Wow, why so aggressive with the replies? I'm just sharing thoughts

I don't mean holding the phone, I mean using Android Auto, or handsfree PLUS charging on the mat. I would have thought this was exactly what it was meant for. I haven't held a mobile phone while driving since I got my first Motorola in car kit. Why would I?

I think that this car is limited in what it provides because all of the new competitors provide an invertor to allow users to plug in PC's, etc. They have the tech, on the Lightning, so no reason not to add it. Not having a high power cigar lighter and only having one in the 'between seat' are and one in the boot is not great. As there is such a strong source of power, it seems like shortsightedness not to capitalise on the one thing they DO have.
Sorry, no aggression meant. I truly didn't understand why you were asking the questions. It sounded like either your car didn't have those USB and 12v outlets, you didn't know where they were, or something else was going on. I literally stated "I don't understand what you find so limiting" and still don't. Have you already plugged cables into all the available power outlets and need more?

Ditto with Apple CarPlay. Also Waze and Apple Maps.

Thanks for the post. No problem.

I don't use the charging mat anymore. It just doesn't work. I place my iphone on it, and it charges for a few moments but then the charging symbol disappears from the display and the phone just doesn't charge. Nudging it around a bit on the mat often reactivates the charging, but then even in the new position it stops after a few moments. I just gave up on it - I plug the thing into USB now.

There is a bulletin for this depending on your build date. They'll update the wireless accessory charging module, which fixed this problem for me.

Interesting - I don't see any active bulletins on this for my vehicle but I'll bring it up next time I go in for service. If you have the info on that bulletin that would be good to know. Thanks!

It wouldn't appear on your car, these are dealer bulletins so if someone brings their car in with an issue, they check bulletins first to see if it is a known issue with a fix from Ford. Only recalls and field service actions (I believe) will appear in Ford Pass and ETIS.
