Hmmmm, interesting. So I wonder if the continuous hum myself and others hear when charging the 23.5 cars is related to this redesigned system or truly a software bug. I live in Maine so can’t test in warmer conditions. The issues with blue charging indicators not turning off in some 23.5s might there be separate from the humming cooling system during charging?
No the humming during charging is a known issue.

I definitely have this noise. Mine only happens after I've driven. I can start up and sit and nothing. Once I've been driving a bit I hear it, and it's fairly noisy. If I then stop it keeps making the sound. I thought it was a crossed wire causing interference with the audio system at first, but now I have no clue. If I shut off the car it stops immediately, and if I turn car back on it stays gone until I drive again.

Purchased a 2023 Mach E Premium in October. We live in NJ. In November when we started using the heat the car has a constant humming sound when driving. It starts about a mile into our trip and does not stop until we shut the car off.

Brought to Ford 3 time only to be told it is a 'characteristic' of the car. So frustrated. Dealer explained it is due to the redesign of the coolant pump. The noise from the coolant pump is transferring through the chassis into the front fender into the passenger compartment. My service rep confirmed the humming was heard in a 'like' vehicle but not as prominent as it is in mine.

Anyone having the same problem and maybe came up with a solution?

I am standing by for the charging light / humming fix for my 23.5 too.

Is it cold where you live? I am in NJ. We had very mild weather recently-- I think when it was like 70 degrees the car did not buzz. For one day I had peace and quiet while driving lol. It is so annoying and Ford shut the door on me. They say no issue with the car

Oddly didn't hear it when it was colder, but I had the heat running. I noticed the other day that the whining sound goes away if I run the cabin heat once the cabin heat is up to temp and blowing.

Very sad, experiencing the same exact issue. It's very annoying. Poor design choice and should've been caught in QA testing. I really hope Ford issue a fix for it asap. I love this car SO much and this is a huge drag on the experience. Guess I will just turn up the radio for now...

I have this as well in my Nov 2023 built select with LFP battery.
I’m pretty sure it is the coolant pump. Unfortunately I can’t find the readout for the pump in car scanner so I can’t confirm.
I can hear it slightly from inside the car when stopped at lights but it isn’t loud enough to bother me.
I mostly hear it from the outside when I plug in my car when I get home late at night. Seems like it runs the coolant pump the whole time. I think my Bolt may do that as well but I don’t remember. It might not be abnormal.
It almost sounds like a power transformer hum to me.
I’ve only had the car about a month so I’m not sure if it’s the same in warmer weather.
It’s quieter than the heat pump was in my Model 3 I had before this.

Agreed WTH? lol
so I came from a standard range 21 rwd to a 23.5 gtpe, I don't recall any humming sound when driving the 21. My 23.5 does have the sound but only when it's in the 50 degree or lower range. When it's warmer in the 60s or higher no hum noted.

That's because the cooling system was redesigned for 2023.5, and it's now doing heat recovery during charging to warm up the battery instead of wasting the heat to the surroundings. The battery coolant pump has to run in order for that to happen, so the pump noise during charging when the battery is cold makes sense. When it's warmer, it doesn't need to heat the battery.

There was a bug with endless charging, that's a different issue solved by the latest powertrain update OTA.

Based on all the responses of people who hear the same sound……. It sounds like it is supposed to make that sound.

It’s one of the issues of not having a loud engine…… you hear everything.

Display screen buzzing sounds
Tire noise
Wind from windshield or side mirror
Coolant pumps running etc

Now what can you do about the noises? Little tweaks to reduce sound.

For cold weather, try preconditioning like was suggested.

For other sounds, you can fill gaps for air noise and try sound insulation like dynamat to reduce tire, coolant pumps and road noise.

know all about the endless charging issue, I was the one that started the ball rolling on that. Yeah I read your great thread on the changes to 23.5 cooling system. So I then assumed it was performing as designed.
