Hey,

I'm planning on taking my '21 Job2 GTPE to a star party next month. Any white light is prohibited after dark. Even red light is discouraged. I'm wondering if there's a simple way to stop all exterior lights from flashing or turning on? I'm also concerned about battery drain from the car waking up. I'll be camping right by the car. Can I stop it from constantly waking up? I suppose I could turn off PAK and use a mylar pouch for a physical key but I'm wondering if there's a better way to accomplish this.

Thanks,
Bruce

I've been in this situation before, all the exterior lights are going to turn on whenever you open a door so it's not going to be good. I would honestly recommend taking an older car instead and disable the dome light.

There's not an easy way to disable this on the Mach-E short of pulling the 12V battery.

You can switch the dashboard dimmer dial all the way down until it clicks and there’s an overhead button to turn off the dome light. But the car WILL still turn on the headlights if you unlock it. You might want to use something to cover the headlights and tail lights and either turn off bluetooth on your phone (so PaaK wont wake up the car) -or- unpair the phone and use your key fob (put that in an RFID pouch).

Hmm... I was hoping there was a fuse or two that I could pull. I guess I'll try a little experimentation with an RFID pouch and maybe cover my lights with something.

Thanks ?

There are a lot of settings in the car for alarms and locking, etc Turn off all visual feedback settings and the lights wont flash. Not sure if you can do all of them. You can also close out ford pass and put key in a faraday bag (or wrap in foil) to prevent the car from waking when you pass by it.

Ahhhh. A stable blanket for the mustang.

not for lights, but I sometimes throw something over the frunk when I’m working on something in the garage. Like covering patio furniture. Just in case.

turning bluetooth OFF on your phone will prevent the usual wake ups from proximity and PAAK... but you also need to go thru 'welcome light' settings and lock/ulock, and mislock chirping and beeping. There will STILL be interior lights, and the only way to be sure is maybe get a car cover.... or pull the 12v battery NEG terminal which is pretty easy to reach after you pop off the rear beauty cover.

There actually IS a "police dark car" mode available. It's for Fords that law enforcement uses for stakeouts, etc.

You will need the FORScan program and a good FORScan dongle, such as OBDII EX or ODBII MX+, to turn it on in your Mach E (and later, to turn it back off).

Don't know about how police dark car mode would interact with our fob or your PAAK... but it is certainly there.

That's what the button on the overhead console does IMO. Dark mode toggle. It only affects the interior lights.

The exterior lights coming on when you open a door is something else in the as built. The screens also light up when you open a door so there's a lot of things to deal with.

Dark Car, or Police mode is different from the dome light switch. It prevents all external lights from turning on when unlocking, along with dome light. It might also be called Silent Mode. look for it in the plain english settings in forscan. Under the APIM. I only had to enable it in forscan to give me a option to turn it off and on as I wish.

That's what I had understood, thanks.

Pat,

Had you been close to me I'd have volunteered to turn your Police Dark Car mode on. As it is, I suggest you try to find a FORScan + OBDII MX equipped forum member in or near Reno to try this before your dark night event. Good Luck!

I've already got it configured. I was just helping OP out with what I could pull from memory without Forscan in front of me. Appreciate the thought though!
