I was recently told that the parts were now available to fix a recall item. I called the dealer the same day and was told that they may not perform any service on Mach-es. They never explained why. Any one else have this experience?

Likely due to the restriction on updating any of the powertrain modules.

I was told by a local dealership a couple months ago that they have about 12 Mach-E's stuck on their lot they have to get rid of somehow and they will never sell any more and they have opted out of training and equipment to service any EV's.

Thanks. I assume there is no guidance as to when the problem will be resolved.

Can they do that? I mean it's a freakin' Ford dealership selling... Fords.

“Early May”; and the fact it’s blocking a lot of service currently makes me think there’s an urgency to getting the fix rolled out.

If you mean the comment about no longer selling and servicing EV’s then yes they can. Dealers had to make a choice to be a Model e dealer which required significant investment or opt out and only sell non EV’s. Over 50% of dealers opted out if I remember correctly. (Might not be quite that high)

if they're talking like that I'm not surprised they have twelve mach es, "they can't get rid of"

It's their perogative I suppose. I'm just not so sure it's a smart long term plan. The Mach-E is a very good first swing at a dedicated BEV from Ford. Would not take much for Ford to knock its next line of BEVs out of the park. Ones coming out of Blue Oval City next year.

One in twenty cars Ford sold last month was a BEV and it only sells two. I just think dealing with some growing pains now might be worth it by the end of the decade. Maybe not even that far.

I didn’t really need anything done, but they couldn’t address the problem until they hired a new electrical vehicle technician from what I was told!

It is unfortunate that some dealerships opted out of the EV program. The only downside for them is when there are no more ICE vehicles to be sold they will be out of business. Ford will make them pay to come back.

As explained to me by my dealer’s service manager, who opted out of the Model E certification, they can do recall work and work on vehicles they sold.
This is independent of any restrictions Ford may have put in place.
The Ford dealer map doesn’t reflect dealers who opted out in January. The only good way to find a currently EV-certified dealer is to do an inventory search for 2024 models. If the dealer has a ‘24 model for sale, they are currently certified.

They do sell the Mach-e, just no service at the moment - I assume it's not permanent. Weird timing though - the same day I get told by ford the part is available the dealer says they can't do any servicing.
