I was very excited to place my order for my '22 Mach-E Route 1 edition this past November. I talked to my local dealer about the paint choices and I was under the impression that the Iced Blue Silver Metallic that I ordered was the silvery blue color I had ran across when I saw a Mach-E in the wild. Unfortunately I was wrong and I figured it relatively quickly and contacted the dealer to change the color to a Dark Matter Grey. I received confirmation that it was changed and didn't think much about it until just recently I received my build date! Problem is, the blue still shows up online. Called the dealer, they recognized it was their fault but told me that my only option was to cancel my order! Frustrated doesn't even begin to explain my state of mind...

Does anyone have any advice for paths to get this fixed? I hate paying this much to customize this vehicle to my liking and have it not be to my liking.

You’re already 5 months into the queue and that’s a lot if you do a do-over. My advice is that you take the Iced Blue Metallic car, finance with 36 months Options, and if you’re still unhappy turn it in or sell it in 3 years.

My MME is Infinite Blue Metallic which is a color that was discontinued. I was ready to choose an alternate color. That wasn’t necessary.

Infinite blue is what I thought I was getting. I'm still excited but just frustrating that they messed up and there isn't any great immediate recourse.

If you truly can’t live with ice blue, you could get it wrapped.

Ugh, I agree with you. These two different blues are really nice! I have one of each in my neighborhood, also CA RT 1, so I chose Space White and honestly, they all look great. I ordered 12/3/21, so right behind you and cannot wait to get into the build cue. I read through all the posts in the forum and it's very frustrating, with dealerships, it's like the wild wild west, they all seem to just make stuff up. I called customer relations asking about price protection because my dealership had no idea what I was asking about and CR referred me back to THE DEALERSHIP! I'd walk my butt back into the dealership and I'd ask to talk to the general manager and verify in this is correct.. You may have the build date, but it SEEMS you could still edit the order, but I'd give that one more shot. You must've gotten the $2000 also?

Two things to consider @Machncheez,

1. Start looking around for a Mach-e that meets your specs on another dealer’s lot and see if you can snag that for an acceptable price. Keep your current order while doing this.

2. if you don’t find an acceptable car by the time yours arrives, take the iced blue (it’s a nice color). If the color grates on you, have it wrapped as @Murse-In-Airy suggested. You could start looking for a shop that does that now.

Maybe since the dealer admits this is their fault, they can help defer the cost of the wrap by giving a discount on the price. Then you can end up with something truly unique rather than one of the 10 shades of grey Ford Offers.

Thanks for the advice! I really do need to see the car in person once it arrives. This is one of the many frustrations with the current situation is that I can't see the actual car with the actual color to see if I like it or not. Dealer sent me a picture of an Edge in a similar color and I've googled pictures but nothing replaces real life. I've never wrapped a car before... What's a price range I should expect for a good job?

A good wrap job, color change would be $4k +. I would be happy with the Iced Blue silver, but completely understand the disappointment. When we ordered ours we went back and forth between red and the space white/gray since we could not see them in person before ordering. Since my first car was a red 67 mustang we decided to just go with the red.

Iced blue is a nice color, imo. If you really don’t like it, see if the dealer will do a search and dealer trade for a vehicle you want. You’re making a big infesment!

Iced Blue > Infinite Blue IMHO. Iced Blue when the sun hits it is fantastic, and it will be easier to keep clean than the infinite blue.

Not possible to edit the order. Once the car goes into production they don’t allow changes. Also, OP found out the error when Ford confirmed It was scheduled for production. The Blue he ended up with is as nice as the Blue he originally wanted. I have Infinite Blue Metallic and the Ice Blue Metallic replaced it in the color chart.

Color is a personal choice but I can’t compare the keeping it clean comment. My Infinite Blue is garaged from sand and salt. I would be just as happy with the Iced Blue.

With current supply issues you may as well take the car, and tax credit, then order a new one. Trade values are through the roof now, and by the time the second one arrives the tax credit situation may change.
