It is not hard for a dealer to dig into where the car was sold and registered, and where the warranty came from.
...and then look up all of your history of where you've lived, moved, etc.? Why would a dealer even bother to go through all that work? From the horror stories on this site, they barely have enough time or care to perform basic work.

Dealers barely look up what the car in front of them needs. I don't think it'd be a dealer issue, they get paid either way. It's a sales issue. The warranties are valid in all states, but not valid to sell in all.

I just wonder if there are any CA dealers who may offer a little better pricing than full-on retail on the ESP. ?‍♂?

They don’t have any incentive to do so. Better to collude and gouge.

That’s how it was in Florida.

You see the profits, right?
Yep. More of a rhetorical question. ??

I freaking hate dealerships. Even the one that I now work with, it’s better than most, but that’s a really low bar. I just don’t know of too many other businesses where you have to start every transaction from a stance of “this person is actively trying to lie to me and deceive me.” It’s crazy, but that’s how you have to deal with them.

Maybe @Zach@granger can answer that.
Some other posters made some good points above. Enhanced rental only ups the daily amount to $60 max 10 days. Premium Care now comes with rental assistance $40 a day max 10 days. First day rental is $40 a day max 10 days but they will have the option of getting a rental the first day. They can call 1-800-392-3673 the Ford Current Plan Help Line to assist them on that.

In a situation like you described, it really is a judgement call of the dealers. Are they obligated to give you a loaner free of charge in that situation? no. Will most dealers? Yes. I would call your servicing dealership and ask them what their policy is in a situation like that.

FYI, for those paying $100 for key service, you should do the following:

1) Buy a 3rd key for $50 or so.
2) Program it yourself using the other 2 keys.
3) Stick it in a drawer.

Help me out with some extended warranty questions, please.

First, my Ford Pass app says I don't have an extended warranty. I asked the finance person to dig into that problem, and they said there is no problem. They sent me this screenshot. But the screenshot says it's for a 2024 car. And I have a 2023. Over a month later, the warranty still isn't showing up in the app.

Next, there's a thread about an owner who's stuck waiting months for a charging port part. If you get the long-term rental car option, how long will that get you a rental car for? I apparently don't have that option; it's checked deleted on my paperwork. My warranty is only for the first day rental option. How long is that good for?

Last, I know I overpaid, but I didn't know how much until I saw the cost in the document he sent me. I'm on the fence about canceling and buying through Granger because the finance guy saved me thousands by finding me a loan elsewhere. He went above and beyond doing that. Ford gave me an atrocious interest rate.

I purchased a "Ford Protect Extended Service Plan" last year. It also didn't show up on my FordPass originally until I spoke to Ford and they said I used different logon info. Once straightened out it showed up.

I spoke with the finance person. I'm going to cancel and buy from Granger. He didn't offer to compete... LOL.
You should shop around. I got the highest level extended warranty from Lombard Ford online for about $1,600.

Thanks! I still suspect my problem is the dealer listed the car as a 2024 on the warranty. He admitted that was a problem.
It should be verified by the Vin, which pulls the year, that is what doesn't add up here to me.

My wife has the EW listed on her app not mine.

We can learn a lot about expected reliability by examining these numbers from Ziegler regarding how much they climb once you pass eight years or 100,000 miles.

I was considering the 150k warranty, but not anymore. Ouch!
Or, Ford (who controls the pricing, Zeigler(sp) and other dealers just mark it up from there), wants people to retire vehicles by 8 years old. So they limit it to 8 years. Or, they don't want to have to provide parts.

While there is no legal requirement, I can tell you that I have a 2013 F-150 where Ford provided an extended warranty for one part. That extension is for 10 years, 150,000 miles, which is a common extension point for these types of things. In other words, they don't want to service it after that.

I'd suggest you play with the years, and compare the percentage change from X to Y, as well as the deductibles. Also remember you have 36 month / 36,000 mile coverage. There is no reason to buy yet, except for a tiny increase towards the end (which you can come up with if you fiddle with their configuration).

How much are you folks paying for this stuff?
  • Multi-point inspections
  • Tire rotations
  • Wiper blades
  • Washer fluid top-offs
  • Cabin air filter replacement (every 20,000 miles)
  • Brake pads and linings
  • Shock absorbers/struts
Using my Ford Pass rewards on a discounted 100k maintenance plan might not be a bad idea.
Many threads on this already. YOUR dealer may not charge for a 10,000 mile service. They WILL charge for the 20,000 which includes a cabin air filter, which you can buy online for under $20 and replace yourself in minutes. Discount Tire rotates tires for free. You won't need brakes for a very, very long time, may never need shock absorbers...

A maintenance plan for an EV (different from an extended warranty) is a really, really, really poor purchase. An extended warranty is just really poor.

I've got about 31,000 points. It sounds better to use them on the extended warranty per your advice.

Thanks!
That's $155. They don't expire for 2 years, and every time there's activity, it's 2 years from there. Yes, you can use them for extended warranty, or paying for those scheduled maintenance visits, or buying parts / accessories, or a new vehicle.

I'd use those points for new tires or a new 12V battery. Or touch up paint, wiper blades. Stuff like that.
